The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

Hey revol, judging from your posts, there's two words you really don't like
    British and
    English

is it me or does revol have a chip off his shoulder about something? the quality of life over there compared to here? lighten up man!...[or take it somewhere else!]
anyway - this tv licence thing and them trying to sting students...its a shame they try to pin such pathetic excuses such as 'each separate room considered a separate dwelling space'...we had a nice 5 room house with a telly in the sitting room, in any normal family house you only pay one licence regardless of the number of tvs there are. you could have a house made out of tvs and only need one licence (theoretically), but they seem to 'prey' on those less suspecting individuals such as students who've just left home and don't know any better. so heres my two fingers to them

it just depends on how you rent it - if you rent it as a whole house its 1 licence needed. if you rent it as separate rooms you dont. licence inspectors are pretty lenient with students in general.

shiato what u on about have i ever mentioned the difference in living standards between n. ireland and the rest of uk?? and as for taking it esle where i'll take it anywhere i want and since this was a thread on the tv license i thought i'd say what i thought on it...

and yeah exactly what has my chip got to do with u im fed up with people tellin me to lighten up.. this is a internet forum if i can't rant on here were can i...

shiato do i bitch about ur posts??? i don't go around telling people their retarded trivial posts are hmmm trivial and unimportant do i? no, so i expect atleast the courtesy of having my posts replied to in a reasoned and argued manner rather than people putting words in my mouth (this whole english british bollix that alan has said and i still don't understand or the standard of living thing???) or commenting on my anger levels..im perfectly bloody calm tho if one more person implies im about to go postal i just might.

    jeez glad thats out....

Oh, o.k. then . Seriously, if you want to avoid giving your money to faceless corporations (and supermarkets do some dodgy stuff as I'm sure you're aware), getting your food off them for free can't really be beaten.

tbh i'm not bothered about paying for it. (kids bbc is on all day!!) £100 odd is not alot when you think of how much you spend on everything else.

I'm waiting for someone to start on cable/sky with the ad's every 10 minutes and silly prices for sports channels ect...
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

well, the ads on cable are the same regularity as normal TV (every 15 mins) but I think you will find that a lot of cable channels dont put ads on in the middle of films at all unlike ITV... (news at 10.. I mean is there any need when we have 24hr news channels?)

really dont see the problem with satelite, if you want it you pay if you dont want it you dont. with the BBC, if you dont want it you pay for it, if you dont even have a telly they WILL harrass you anyway. I think the letters are very arrogant and every time I recive one It makes me more determined not to give them my money. I really just dont like this mandatory "licence" idea, how can you need a license for a TV? not like you can run some1 over in it or its gonna bite somebody...

It is basicaly a tax, and although I wouldnt like to see the beeb disappear I think it should fund itself through advertising like all the rest of the networks.
