    Help on contents insurance!

    Hi,

I'm moving into my new place tomorrow and just wanted to get some contents insurance sorted. While filling in online forms, I kept being asked when the building was built. This is a problem as it used to be a factory that was converted into apartment blocks, so would I put the original date the factory was built or when it was converted? I would guess it was converted into flats then it would have to meet all the new building requirements? So making it a 'newish' building...

    Thanks for any help

If it's any help, I'm pretty sure they mean the date the factory was built rather than the date it was turned into flats

It's hardly weird, what they're trying to prevent is double insurance. If your landlord has his contents insured, and you have your contents insurance, it would be possible to put in a claim twice for the same accident.

You'll unlikely to be able to get contents insurance in your situation,
