As said above, try something new, maybe take up a sport or something? (yes ive seen you in real life, so maybe not rugby?! ), find a hobby, even better find a girl? plan a holiday, etc etc.

Take lessons from Mike in cable management?!

Re: What's the point? (Or the serious thread)

i find my life is defined by a series of points that are pre-determined but i can choose whether to avoid them or not. it's hard to give an example but the one i remember is.. i used to work at Office National Statistics (had access to everyones details who lived in UK if you must know).. and i took the exact same route to work everyday, after 8 weeks i had a funny feeling and took a slightly different route that happened to look back onto my previous route.. and lo and behold there was a jack-knifed partly overturned lorry in the road. how did i know to alter route? I have no idea, but strange things like this happen on an alarmingly increasing frequency nowadays..

whats this got to do with this thread, well i don't really know, it must have a point, everything else i've done recently has..

oh yeah - life/fate/whatever you call it gives us choices now and again, they may be difficult or easy but don't regret the one you make. It all works out eventually and when you question what the other decision would have brought thats what will start making you miserable. stop thinking about it and just accept your choice..

anyhow - my latest decision, carry on using PC with strange whiney noise on mobo, or turn it off and not be on HEXUS again for a looong time - no job - no money - cant afford new PC.

    guess what..

BYE BYE HEXUS it was fun while it lasted...

JK, are the bad/crap things you see around you the things in your own life & circumstances? Or the sort of more general 'what's the point, the world is full of bad stuff' type thing? If it's the first, then maybe you can try & change a few things, even something small, and even if you can't right now, life & circumstances change over time & can look a lot different. If it's the latter, has there got to be a point?* I haven't found one, except try & have some fun while you're here & think about those worse off than you.. (*The most basic one for living things is meant to be 'perpetuating the species' &c, after all, and I for one ain't gonna be doing that).
If you do suspect it's a turn for the depressive then it's not so much down to outside things, in which case you do have to sort that out before you can tell whether your life needs changing in itself or not. I guess if the usual stuff about 'you've got your health/friends/family' don't cheer you up, you probably are a bit low, & it's really hard to motivate yourself from that position. Lots of people have been where you are, less thinking & a bit more time outdoors are definitely a good start... I gather you & the sunlight hours don't see much of each other... ditto fresh air and eating your greens..

Re: What's the point? (Or the serious thread)

    Life's kinda a roller coaster.

without the ups, the're could be no downs to ride down n vice versa.

if you don't have bouts of whats the point, apathy and full flown misery. Then the highs have nothing to give contrast, nothing to make them great.

so be thankful for the fact some things are depressing, for that way the delta between the good things is greater. Without it we'd all be living in Milton Keynes.

In a serious note find more things that make you happy, gambling is very expensive, more so than most vices of drugs and hookers (not that i'm advocating them).

Try as many things as posible, if you've got a glut of time, sign up for some charity work!

Just to point out, I don't gamble all the time (less and less actually) and when I do, I don't spend more than I have... I have my savings and no debts as of yet, so that's less of a contributing factor

You should go to uni JK... Its a life changing experience imo... sure you will have more debt after, but it may open doors to a more satisfying career which will probably pay more anyway...

I was going to, but anything I'd be really interested in doing I don't need a degree for, namely musician or policeman. Musician however, is insanely hard to make a living from, even get started, and the police told me I needed more 'life experience' first.

Uni will give you the life experience. How about do forensic science or something similar and head down that route in the police force? Become a CSI, that would be well l33t..

That reminds me of a mate of mine who applied to be in the police and they said they were only taking on anyone but white people at the time. I kid you not he showed me the letter lol

The amount of people taking these forensic courses is getting crazy now. I never watched CSI .. but I blame CSI.
