    Slow Windows XP+sp2

    hi guys,

finally after lot of research about Quad processor i got my computer yesterday and its running now.
here is specs: (note: no plan for overclocking in near future)

    Processor- Q6600 G0 2.4 8MB
    MotherBoard- Intel DP35DP
    GPU- XFX 8800GT 512MB
    RAM- PC2-6400 2GBx2GB (total 4GB)
    Casing- Armor 8000B
    PSU- ToughtPower 750Watt
HD- Seagate 200GB ATA (bootable) (old HD
    brought long time back)
    HD- Seagate 250GB Sata (7200RPM)
HD- Maxtor 1TB Sata (32MB Buffer)
    DVD- LG DVD-RAM

    (i got x2 windwos xp 32bit with sp2 cd's and windows vista extreme+sp1+office 2007 dvd)

Now there is some problem in my windows or may be hardware and i need ur help to fix it.

after assembling all part i installed xp 32bit just to upgrade BIOS and then i did the format on 200GB ATA and formatted 1TB Sata also and try to install Windows Visto on 200GB Ata but for some reason it didnot work and i did the quick format and installed again windows xp +sp2 32bit

but when xp +sp2 32bit was install i have noticed my cpu is not even more than 2% while burning dvd and formatting hd and trasffering data from 1 hd to other all at same time. note: no other software was installed on windows otherthan nero

now 2nd time (after failing vista) when i format my hd and installed different cd of xp and then install software for gpu (8800gt 512 xfx) install symentac 10 antivirus and now when i noticed my cpu is almost 20-25% idle and trasffering data from 200GB (C: to 1TB Sata is too slow and its taking 5 mintues to transffer 100MB from C: to sata but from sata to C: its just taking few seconds.

note: even booting xp is taking hell of time... now i don't know what is the problem... hardware...???? software....????

please help me to enjoy real quad speed and games...

thnx in advance for all comments and help... and any other ideas to enjoy real quad games...

    Re: Slow Windows XP+sp2

For a start Vista and XP 32 bit do not support 4GB of RAM. Secondly, there was a bug with Vista that it didn't install with more than 2GB RAM, so remove 1 stick. If you really want 4GB RAM I suggest you use the 64bit version of Windows.

    Re: Slow Windows XP+sp2

thnx for ur help.... problem was solved by formatting and re-installing win-xp-sp2-32bit

    cpu % is now normal (burning dvd + moving data from c > d & e > d & f > d + watching movies - all at same time) and cpu is only 0% 1% or 2%

data transfer rate also improved and moving data to C (5GB) take only 1 min

    thnx again
