In one of my first bands, a four piece grindxcore group, none of us had a decent enough garage (thus is the benefits of living in a cotton industry town!), so we would hire a rehearsal studio at a little underground place next to a mill. The rooms were always un-ventilated, and a little bit grubby, but we'd always pile into my car, instruments on our laps. We needed three trips - Drums first, amps second, axes/mic stand third.. cost a bloody bomb in petrol!

Anyhooo.. the gXc we played was usually based around pentatonic scales played REALLY FAST.. that is until I brought in a fresh knowledge of Mixolydian We parted ways when they decided pop punk was a better direction.

Ive got a Squier Sandard Tele 20th anniversary edition in sunburst - its a bleenin loverly guitar, feels great, IMHO feels like a far more expensive guitar. I cant play yet, so i cant comment on how it plays

Bear in mind, it doesnt really matter how good you are, or how good your guitar is - if youve got a cheap ass crap practise amp you'll never sound like your rock and roll heroes

You all need one of them Personally i think every Hexus member should buy one off me

just damn good memories that make you feel good everybody no-matter how bad get their 15 minutes of fame just some use it better than others !!!

I don't think you necessarily need a 'good' make to start off with, there's plenty of people out there making imitation guitars which are really good value for money, especially to start with. I got a Crafter imitation PRS for £210 the other day, played around with it for about half an hour instore and compared it to some more expensive guitars from more expensive well known makes, and it was just as good as some for around £300.

Best bet is to go into a decent guitar shop and ask for advice, play around with a few different guitars, try a few different shops, may as well get something thats right for you. Where are you based, someone near you may be able to reccomend a few ood shops.

    My first guitar was a classical acoustic. Disgusting to play due to having the widest neck in the world, and I refused lessons, prefering to teach myself. My mom wouldn't buy me an electric until;
    "You can play properly"
I was at school, no job, no money, I bought a broken Japenese electric guitar for £20. Fiddled inside, somehow fixed it, cleaned it, and cared for it. One of the best guitar's I've ever had. (It's in 2 pieces now after stage rage!)
Then I went into Sound Control and bought a new strat copy for £80.

When my band got our deal, my dad took me into sound control and said,
"you can have any guitar in here"

A salesman pounced coming out with
"You'll be looking at the Les Paul or classic fender ranges then"

    My answer
    "no"

After searching for 2 hours I found the best guitar I've ever played and bought it
    Peavey V-Type EXP

    http://www.peavey.com/products/shop_...code/2/v-t.cfm

(Styled like a SUPER telecaster - 2 humbuckers)
£350 - Unbelievably light, Great tone, for gigging or recording and actually looks like a rock guitar rather than the les paul "old man" look.
I'd seriously recommend giving it a try.

Ahh yeah, remember you posting a pic of that a while ago, can't remember where though

Nice one, carlsberg don't make guitars but if they did they'd probably be sg's (slight bias showing through there but i don't care )

High strings should be a fairly easy remedy. If it's the headstock end you just need to get a new 'nut' (The little bridge that the strings sit in on way to tuning heads). It's not a complicated job, I've changed a couple on my guitars now. Any decent muso shop should sell you one for a couple of quid.

Yeah that might be a step too far to be fair, unless you're gonna fit a floyd rose at the same time

OMG.. I read through this entire thread ready to stamp my love of the pacifica all over it..

These guitars are the business and I learned on my brothers one... The day the git asked for it back. I died a little inside, and that part of me never came back *sighs*

Lost a lot of my electric guitar speed playing because I have no electric in my flat. Its back @ mums. But keeping going on a westfield acoustic. Usually jam some acoustic stuff at the moment. Bit of led zepplins acoustics is always fun.

If you have a guitar.. I see no reason to ever stop playing ! stopping is for quitters.
