Chinese Olympic Organisers are creating fake images

I am shocked by this, but I just heard on 909AM that:

The cute little girl who sang her heart out on the opening ceremony.....didn't. She MIMED her little heart out, because the little girl with the lovely voice had a face that was too chubby, and uneven teeth.

Shocked? I am a bit, cos some little lass thinks she's sub standard.....but, moving onward...

The amazing fireworks, with "footsteps" in the sky....were CGI. Had you been there, you'd have seen no Footsteps, cos they weren't there.

Shocked? well....you wont be shocked to find out that "rent-a-crowd" keep turning up, and after admitting the above things, the organisers have also admited to shipping in some volunteers, to fill the seats in the stadiums, as empty seats look bad on TV.

Like chubby girls with buck teeth I 'spose, and imaginary fireworks.

Surely, in a sports event of such magnitude, where cheating of any sort is frowned upon so hard, putting up fake fireworks is just wrong!

Nah the footprints really did go up as fireworks but they were'nt able to get all of them in a proper shot so they CGI'd up a wee bit.

Re: Chinese Olympic Organisers are creating fake images

To be honest, it doesn't surprise me.

More to the point, I'm not overly concerned that they faked it.

How much of the Olympics is a "show" and how much of it is about pure athletic abilities?

To me, it doesn't really matter what the opening ceremony contains whether it's been faked or not as it has no direct bearing to the sporting events being held. To me, the ceremony is just that...a precession to show off.

... Well the IOC is also abusing copyright law to pull down Tibet protest vids from youtube -> http://news.slashdot.org/news/08/08/12/1127220.shtml

I thought they made some 'bullshots' of the firework display as it was not safe to fly copters etc during the display? Well, I read that this was the reason behind it, make of that what you will.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...

Re: Chinese Olympic Organisers are creating fake images

The reason I think it's wrong is because

A: People are impressed by fireworks, they watch them on TV, and what they're seeing is not all real. The last one was....the rest might not have been. It was clever...but so was Jurassic Park when it came out. One was a film...one was an opening ceremony of a sports event. Why cheat?

Secondly (B).... people. The Olympics is about PEOPLE. And that little girl with the fantastic voice is a person. But she's not pretty enough to be allowed infront of the public.

    I think that's a disgrace.

I thought the footsteps fireworks were CGI when I saw the opening ceremony. I thought they just flew over the city and added the fireworks with graphics.

I can see your point of view.

It just doesn't bother me...or should I say surprise me that things are faked in a huge event like this where everything has to be perfect (especially when it involves China).

Part (B) I can thoroughly agree with your disgust in that they deemed the girl with the voice wasn't "pretty" enough for the screens. But as a bearing to the Olympic sporting events, it scores a zero for me.

Can you imagine the up-roar if they went to a competitor and said " sorry... you can't be in the competition as your too damn ugly" ?

I bet they love the twins from the Brazilian sychronised swimming team if they like nice lookers

I was thinking something close...what if the Judo Champion wore a mask but then someone else did her interview at the end and stood on the Podium for her, cos she was butt ugly?

    Never happen, would it?

Might as well get other people to do your urine samples for dope testing

    LoL.

In my mind, the ceremony does not dictate the behaviour of the sporting events being held.

    Ceremony = flashy show

"China wants the Olympics as a stage to present a picture-perfect image to the outside world"

Perhaps they should have concentrated on human rights first and then they wouldn't have felt the pressure to "appear" so perfect.
