    Girls.. and Sims...

What is it with Girls and playing Sims?

This is following on from a thread in Hardware where it turned out that someone needed a GPU for - of all great things - to run a computer for a girl they knew so that she could play Sims 2.

In the totally off-topic discussion that followed on from the request it was decided that lots of girls play it.. if not all girls.

So WHY. Are they all megalomanical people that want to be gods? Are they wanting to control everyone totally and not let us escape from it? Are they trying to create virtual families to find out the ideal one for later in life??

I mean... what is up with girls and Sims?

    Any takers?

And NO, I am not refering to SiM... to the Sims... the computer game!

I'm sure they do - when they aren't running away.

    Now get on topic.

Haha, that is exactly how I read it first, maybe because I was just in his gif thread... (random one, that)

Maybe it's because most of them feel that making themselves how they want to be isn't enough, that EVERYONE needs to be attuned to how the girl in question wants them? Or so they DO have that godlike control, making everyone do exactly what they wish. So they decide who is popular, who dates who and who else is the social rejects. One way of fulfilling their fantasies?

Any views expressed here do not in any way indicate true female thought, just my speculation on what could be happening in those alien places

    Re: Girls.. and Sims...

Hmmm now I might be female but for me it's a personality thing rather than a gender thing.

I like to switch off and relax when I play games - the Sims allows that. I do play other stuff (and no not as often as you want Hex) but once I get frustrated that's it.

I also have a mildly obsessive personalilty, and the Sims is easy to pick up and put down again.

Yes there IS a slight element of God Game-ness to it, and I love building HYOOGE mansions and colour-co-ordinating them... but it's not all about that...

Liked doing it in Sims 1 too... at least with Sims 2 the little cherubs of offspring have the chance to MOVE THE HELL OUT!!!!!!

    Nope not at all.

The Sims 3 has removed the bits that, for me, make the Sims FUN.

I like the micro-management of find job, build house, have family, raise family, family buggers off to do it all again.

I played Creatures before the Sims came along and I loved it for similar reasons.

I don't LIKE Sim City, and that's what The Sims 3 is trying to be...

    Ahem.

it's still early days yet, so there is the chance that they may just add in the bits that they have taken out..

Me thinks Hex should get Braid from the XBLA and point Mrs Hex at it.

    Crysis....not system hungry?

Granted its aiming to be a high end game though. Although EA didn't develop it, they only published it. Crytek developed it

Heh. No you are not. I also used to set up a tiny shed type thing with a cooker and loads of chairs.
You get the sim to put somrthing in the oven, move him away and put loads of chairs in the way so he can't get to the cooker. Soon eough, a fire happens and if you are lucky, you cook the sim.

Also, who is that guy, Mr Goth? When you use the telescope in the day time he runs in your house to have a go at you for spying on him. I bricked him up in the living room.

But I tell you my best tactic that really made me felt like I was playing it as a woman:

I didn't want to work to gain all the possessions and home furnishings, no.
I get people to move in with their lovely dollar and kill em off. I'd start a family with loads of people in it for the dollar then kill them. Meh, heh heh.
