Pete+vincent .... liked a conjoined twin? Or are you two people being especially frugal and only signing up for one account between the two of you?

And if you're talking about Adobe Premiere, it's always been expensive....

    Re: suitable mag

Hi no its not spam, I am getting back into video after many years. I used to get "computer video" and found it great, plus with Bob's advice got going in a basic way. I havent found anything in the News agents that lists graphics card's hard drives etc so I can compare bits to consider building a video only pc. RE Premiere, yes its allways been exspensive, I got 5.5 with a dv30 card and was lucky enough to version 6 so updated to a dv50 card, that was several years ago, so is there a 7 version, or is it all "pro" now, another good reason to find a video mag and up date my knowledge banks. Pete

I hope this is not breaking any rules!!!

Unless I miss my guess, he's referring to "Computer Video Magazine", which for those of you that don't know it, Bob Crabtree used to edit. I'm not aware of any real replacement. I'll ask Bob to have a look at this thread.

Premiere Pro is a professional application so it will be expensive, Adobe Premiere Elements is a scaled down version of Pro so that would be worth a look at if you want to save money or don't need all the Pro features.

Total Training offer video courses for programs like Premiere and Photoshop that teach you what all the tools do and how to use them, I'd check those out if you want to re-learn how to use the program.

Latest software versions: Premiere Elements 4 / Premiere Pro CS3.

    The website, it seems..

Head over to DV Doctor and ask there? You might get a better result!

As best as I can tell, there never was a mag that truly replaced CV, though Highbury pretended there was.

Currently, there still doesn't seem to be much worth reading, though my starting point with a query such as yours would, of course, be the DVdoctor forums - which sprung from the loins of CV's forums.

The Computer Video Magazine forum over there has a couple of current discussions on the very question you raise about what's worth reading.

Fact is, too, that if you want advice about what video software to buy today, the DVdoctor forums are a great place to be asking.

Mind you, my shortlist would include Adobe Premiere Elements, as Tidus suggests.

Ulead VideoStudio would also be on the list. Oh, and you can download and try these two programs to see how you get on with them before buying anything.

Oh (2) and thanks very much for the kind words about CV!

    Cheers

    Bob

    Re: suitable mag

Hi Bob and thanks, I can honestly say that if it had not been for you personaly, and some great guys on the forum's I would "NOT" have got involved with video on the P.C it would have just been a toy.
My son is old enough now to get me re motivated after a break of just filming and watching without any editing at all, so he is going to have my big old panasonic svhs camera and I am going to get a digi hence the questions , will have a look at the forums suggested. Thanks to all for the help, Regards Pete.

    Thanks for the kind words!

I hope you find the DVdoctor forums useful.

    Cheers
