    Gighz Mag Closes

    Unfortunately I bear bad news, for a number of reasons GigaHz has
    been suspended until further notice. The title received very positive
    feedback from the industry and a core of loyal readers and this is in
    no small part down to your help in supporting the magazine over the
    past year.

    It has only been in the pipeline for a year - and has gone already - is this down to the publishers or down to lack of advertising sales?

    Either way - the mag looked great but clearly didn't work in todays crowded marketplace

    It was rubbish - all gloss and no content. It did look good, and was much less 'geeky' than other mags, but I don't want to buy a mag just for one photo and a paragraph of text about each product they 'review'. I want to know what the product is like, how it works, etc.

    It sure was rubbish, full of spelling mistakes and generally bad and just plain wrong information. All pants and no trousers. Having said that, the copy i looked at in smiths today looked much better, but after the issues i bought were so terrible, i vowed never to buy it again.

    GigaHz went into much more descriptive detail about how things work then any other similar mag including custom pc, pc extreme, micro mart etc. But im more interested in new techs and stuff rather than just reviews. I only just got the latest one issue 8 i think. Maybe they went bust because they went bi monthly? besides it
    being £1 too much but then im cheap.

    I remember seeing an article on overclocking in gigahz where the case study was some "extreme" overclocker who was still using stock cooling.....

    actually, i rather liked the issue i bought - it seemed a general "enthusuast" mag covering their general interests (e.g. articles on jobs in the games industry, or on sexy tech) rather than just "here we do a 12-card roundup of 12 identical stock gfx cards"

    I took a look whilst in Tesco's at Ghz magazine and was frankly appalled by the imformation/advice they were giving. Even some of the reviews were terrible, in that they actually were giving wrong information about a product (With reference to the pro's and con's). This was about 2 months ago (so the May/June issue). I would NEVER buy that magazine unless they sacked the current staff or actually got them to do some 'proper' research first.

    ..bit like PC Format telling a guy 'not to worry' about a heat issue when his machine was already crashing..... ! (Which has also turned into a little boys magazine now, thanks to the women and page of smut telephone numbers in the back... shame, selling themselves out just to be popular (or perhaps compete for the amount of hormone sales?)

    I am not suprised Ghz has stopped, but also a shame. Was a good idea, just badly implemented. (AMD anyone... ? ;p)

    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I'm, not that desperate! (to read Hexus that is ) And I am not made of money!

    Mind you, i did toy with the idea of a porta-loo in my study once. For some strange reason, my girlfriend did not like the idea. Odd.

    Poor Kez, I think posting news twice before him has killed him inside.

    *Imagines Kez whimpering in a corner*
