    Re: Counting Sheep

I am sure this is just me, but alcohol has a worse impact on my sleep than caffeine. I can have a couple of cans of energy drinks throughout the day and still sleep like a baby when the time comes (though admittedly I only take caffeinated drinks when I am tired in the first place). Whereas alcohol, even in relatively small quantity (say, 1.5 unit) will mess up my attempt to fall asleep and/or my sleeping pattern.

It's well known that alcohol lowers the quality of sleep you get (less REM etc) and I certainly find that large-ish quantities result in me waking up at unearthly hours (5am). Maybe it can stop you getting to sleep in the first place though by reputation it does the opposite of course... I would google this because I'm interested but I need to get some sleep now lol.
