Re: what mp3 players have you guys and gals got these days?

I've got 2, both from Sandisk, a sansa clip 4GB for podcasts, and a sansa e280 8GB for my music.

I like the simplisity of the interface, excellant sound quality, but they aretoo small to comfortably watch movies.

I've never owned an ipod as I don'y like being forced to use propriotary software, itunes (Iknow you can use other software from the web), I like to be able to just drag my tunes/podcast to my player as if it is just another storaage device.

Re: what mp3 players have you guys and gals got these days?

Its intresting to see that now flash + hdd space has become cheaper, we've almost got used to the fact that we don't *want* 120gig for a player.

The more space you have, the more weight, volume and power is needed.

I've not used my 'large' 20gig player for some time now, i just use a small USB flash stick type, 30 hours of playback, and more than enough music available for a weekend away, plus i just choose tommorows gym tunes before going to bed on an evening. Its all very cheap, simple and civalised.

Personally i think the next big evolution will be having things like Pandora, or Musicovery (still open to UK plebs!) in your pocket.

Until then, i've my full collection on my media server, and just select what i want via laptop/MCE PC for that few days.

i'm using a 2gb creative stone plus just now, only problem is that the shuffle is entirely predictable.

I'd like to get a high-capacity player at some point though, maybe the 120gb zune when it comes out.

Re: what mp3 players have you guys and gals got these days?

For an MP3 player, I just use my phone with an 8GB microSD card. Really want them to release the 16GB cards!

Also got a 160GB Archos 605Wifi, but thats for video and GPS (when i get the GPS cradle).

If I was buying a dedicated MP3 player, i think the new Sony ones would get serious consideration. I like the look of them along with the interface. Although the DAB in that Cowon linked is extremely interesting...

Re: what mp3 players have you guys and gals got these days?

I have a 32gb ipod touch i love it to bits especially now with that app store on it, theres loads of useful free apps to get

it took a while but im quite a fan of itunes now i know it has its flaws but it lets me edit my tags and add artwork to my mp3's and copy it all across easily

i have a few series's of family guy on it aswell which is great for the toilet and even to listen to when im in bed

before that i was still using my brick 20gb creative jukebox zen (the first ones) religiously. i got so much stick for it and how big and "crappy" it was, its the size of a cassette player. it still works brilliantly never updated the firmware or anything, i hope my ipod remains that way too

Re: what mp3 players have you guys and gals got these days?

Still using my iRiver H340 (40GB) player here, despite the fact it's a brick compared to newer players. It's rockboxed, got a silicon skin, and is now on it's 3rd battery (a long life 2200mAH). LOVE that player. Album art, great battery life, video, records direct to MP3...

One day someone will come out with something I'll actually want to replace it with, but that day hasn't come yet.

For times when I don't want to lug it, and there aren't many TBH, I use my W810i with a 4GB duo.

My Shure SE210 headphones are great, too.

I have an iPod 30GB (4th Gen) which has the bulk of my CD collection on, and an iPod Nano (2nd Gen) which I take about with me. Why I don't use my N95 I don't know.
