    Re: CV Advice/Tips

MY very brief input from what I have found works

You should probably explain what a LAN is (and use LAN not Lan)

I would also as opposed to numbering, bullet point (shows that way for me on wordpad, havent installed office yet on a new install)

From what I did on mine for work skills I seperated them into individual and team based roles/skills and wrote a few sentences on each to explain what I did, how I did it etc, I find a bullet pointed list can leave a lot to the imagination and not in a very good way from reading CVs (may get it some more, apparently I can interview some people for work experience even though I am an intern lol)

It entirely depends on the jobs you go for as to how I would word this:

    Serving customers. -
Worked in a public facing role assisting customers, or you sat on your arse at a till scanning things through. Can take it either way IMO

Running a stockroom with up to 3 other stockroom staff. -
worked effectively as part of a team regarding stock allocation and distribution

Replenishing stock. - add this in to the stockroom stuff and it becomes:
worked effectively individualy (sp?) and as part of a team regarding stock allocation and distribution

Customer support. - problem solving is good, possibly add in what you did within that (returns?)

Store maintanence. - maintaining what exactly? if it was stock then don't repeat it, incorporate it -
worked effectively individualy (sp?) and as part of a team regarding stock allocation, distribution and maintaining the operation of the store to a high standard. (add in if you had any reviews or mystery shops that proved this, such as "...to a high standard as shown by my mystery shop records")

Reporting to supervisor and manager every shift. - That isn't a skill worded like that, it is knowing your place in a company

    Re: CV Advice/Tips

    Place of birth isn't necessary

Condense the GCSEs, as I suggested above. Mention the important ones like English and Maths.

At the moment, the Interests and Activities heading sits at the bottom of the first page, on it's own, but that'll get fixed when you condense the other stuff

What sort of jobs are you looking to apply for?

Oh and if you're sending the CV/covering letter electronically, use PDF, or RTF

    Re: CV Advice/Tips

I think with the info you've got on there, you can consolidate it onto one page. Nationality, DoB and place of birth are not necessary.

Also the personal information text box was hiding the 'information' word.

You should work on writing a paragraph - personal profile.

I'll send you a file via your googlemail on the CV.
It's what we use at work.

    Re: CV Advice/Tips

A hardworking, and a highly motivated Sales Assistant with a wide background in the use of information technology. With the ability to pick up ideas quickly and approach problems logically. Experience in working with the public and within a team has taught the value of tact and diplomacy as well as excellent communication skills. Calm under pressure and with the proven ability to be reliable in a busy situatuion
Few changes that i think makes it read better:

I am a hard working, highly motivated individual with the ability to pick up new ideas quickly and approach problems logically and efficiently. Experience in working with the public and within a team has taught the value of tact and diplomacy as well as excellent communication skills. I am calm under pressure have proven my ability to be reliable in busy situations. Through past work experience i have also gained proficiency in a wide range of information technologies.
I think you can leave out the sales assistant bit, unless it's actually what you're doing now - but even then i think you can probably give it a miss - it'll be obvious what you're doing from your "experience" bit.

If you want to add a bit more, you can consolidate your interests bit as follows:

My greatest interest is modern history. Since starting to study the subject in 2002, I have spent my time trying to learn as much on the subject as I can as I find it very interesting. I believe history to be my main subject I do well in and I aim to do a degree in modern history in the future. To complement this, I also enjoy reading and keeping up with current affairs.

I am also interested in gaming and I play a wide range of video games. This has helped to contribute to my skills of working as a team.

While working at JD Sports I have began to work on my skills as working as a team and keeping myself on target. I enjoy working because it gives me challenges and experience.
Very slight change, but i think it fits well.
