    Holiday firm XL in administration

UK's third largest package holiday group, XL went into administration over night.

Around 85,000 people abroad and over 100,000 people have pre booked. Gonna be a really long and tricky situation for a lot of people.

    The contact number is:
    0289 185 6547

Doesn't help with the Channel tunnel problme as well.

Everything will be OK - Bruce Dickinson was on the news this morning saying they had some spare capacity and they'll pick up some of the stranded.

Re: Holiday firm XL in administration

I know its no consolation , about 10yrs ago I booked with a bucket shop to fly to Canada cheaply. On the day I was due to fly I went to Heathrow and at check out was told my ticket was invalid as the canadian govt had with drawn the airline's license. I phoned the shop that sold me the ticket. They wanted me to fly the following week. I said no for obvious reasons. Then they said pay £300( using credit card) and you can fly with Air Canada I said you put me on at no cost, they said no.

I phoned my insurance company and told them they werent much help. I phone the shop and told them I had £50K insurance, If they did not fly me at no cost I would go into one of Heathrow's hotel and stay there for two week and claim on my insurance siting them the reason for my two weeks stay in the hotel.

They told me to ring back an hour later. When I phoned they told me to go to their Wembley office the following day and pick up a return air Canada ticket which would fly out tommorow. I did so and had a wonderful holiday in Canada.

Like I said It wont help those customers who have lost their flight but it shows you airlines can do more to help if you push them. I actually spent a good eight hours at Heathrow making phone calls while armed police watched me suspiciously but I succeeded.

Re: Holiday firm XL in administration

Bruce Dickinson was on the BBC news channel this morning in his pilots uniform saying he's on his way to pick up 220 stranded passengers (cant remember where he was going though) at first I thought this was some kind of late april fools, but no he's a proper commerical pilot.

    What ever next?!

I knew he was an airline pilot. In fact I've flown Astraeus.

I just wondered why he was rescuing people.

I don't think she needs aircraft to get into the Stratosphere.
