    Unhappy post pub pissed drivers.

it's a pity I can't think of a word for driver starting with p. I suppose pilot would do, given the magnitude of the crash that's just happened right outside my front door!
Joker who was clearly too drunk to walk, let alone drive collided with a 4WD outside my house, which then totalled my neighbour's car, and rocketed it back 20 feet along the road!!
    Insane!
Cops are here shaking their heads, and the 4WD (a KIA) is totally undamaged, aside from a cracked numberplate and a smear on the rear bumper. The driver's car is completely wrecked - the front lh are of the body is completely gone - exposing the engine and the whole works!
Funny part was, I only noticed because the huge bang was out of sync with the noise from Tango and Cash!

LOL =- no, cops are still out there- thought it might be bad form!
And driver wasn't hurt - evidently, being full to the gills made him bounce.
There was another car about 50 yards behind him, who said that the driver sped up just after the speed camera up the road!

sounds like a good advert for the kia though if it really is unscathed.

i hope the driver gets at least his licence taken away from him for a year or two.

these days you don't have to be going that fast to total a car, they're all "crumple zones" so the car absorbs all the energy of the crash; result - totalled car at not very high speed.

unfortunately not - couldn't be bothered in the end.
BTW - angus, if he had enough momentum to send a kia 4wd 12 feet, and then a honda civic 25 feet (both with handbrakes on!) he had to be travelling pretty fast!
I'm just dreading the conversation with my neighbour when he gets back home tomorrow!

the reason the 4wd car didn't get damaged - much - is probably due to a factor of several things; chunky design, a bit of luck etc are obvious but the fact that it remained mostly unscathed was probably due to energy dispersal into the car behind it.
I imagined that the 4wd and the other car were parked close to one another, when this berk flew intothe 4wd it softened very little of the blow and transfered its energy into the slightly less fortunate car behind and, just as snooker balls move, the reear car is boosted some distance whilst the one in the middle doesn't move as much. its that old trick of having a line of snooker balls and you smack one into one end, the ball at the far end will fly off where as those in the middle stay relatively still. simple GCSE physics...mind you it is getting easier now-a-days so thats probably a-level standard...!
