Re: How can you prevent condensation on the shower ceiling?

Freaky i was going to post a simelar question i have trouble with the house being a bit damp I get mold on the walls in one room and the bathroom might go the same way if were not careful so im looking at a dehumidifer or 2 - but they are expensive for a decent one i think but they do work really well at keeping moisture under control. I just dont know if i need to buy more than 1 as the house is quiet large

    Permanently confused

Parm, ideally what you want to do is put an extractor fan above where your shower is located.

Speaking from experience (had the same problem ) I installed 2 extractor fans (one where the shower is, and one on the opposite side of the wall) along with some anti-condensation paint, seems to have done the trick

PM me if you want some more info, I can give a link to the extractor fans I use as I would recommend them

buy a humidistat fan, it will kick in when needed so you dont have to leave a fan venting 24/7

you may also need airbricks in the damp room to let the air circulate.

You could always fill the sink with Silica Gel packets... :-)

But seriously, we had the problem in this house when we moved it but it seems to have sorted itself since. We had the loft converted and insulated, cavity wall insulation put in and vented Pilkington K double glazed windows. Not sure which of these did it but we certainly have no extractor fan.

P:S Thank you ALOT for the 9800GT you sexy man you

Re: How can you prevent condensation on the shower ceiling?

    Thanks for all the feedback!

I usually spend around 15 - 20mins in the shower, so not an incredibly long time, but I do sometimes get in just after the missus is out. So that probably isn't helping.

However, the condensation seems to have reduced and pretty much stopped over the past week. Could it be that the shower was just brand new?

I'll be keeping an eye on it, but it doesn't seem to bad right now. Though, I'm still contemplating taking out the extractor fan and putting in a bigger one.
