fridge doesn't work in fridge freezer

Hi guys, I have a electrolux fridge freezer where the freezer works fine but the fridge itself doesn't work.

is there anyone who is experience in this sort of line of work know whats wrong with it?

How much does it cost to repair it am i better off buying a new one?

How long's a bit of string?

I'm not a fridge engineer, but I'd say it could potentially be one of several things, ranging from a motor or compressor failure, heat exchanger to a coolant leak. And, especially if the latter, there may be issues with recharging it even if the leak can be fixed, on older units as the coolants are deemed environmentally unacceptable. That happened to me.

I'd guess you'll need someone to work out what's actually wrong with it before knowing what it'll cost to fix, but as ever, the older it is the less worthwhile it's likely to be as the chances that when you've fixed one part, another will go, increase.

its about 6 years old. looks like im better off buying a new one?

Could be the thermostat, if you can find the repair guide for model of the fridge online you might be able to by-pass the thermostat JUST for a short while to prove the rest of it works. Coupla quid to change out - dont cut the metal rod thingy!!

i've been searching high and low for the manual and i even called the company and they said they cant give out that manual

they really want them and only them to deal with it, no1 else even though i have a friend that is a electrician and can sort it out but he needs the service manual though not the "user" manual

Will most certainly be either the thermostat or the compressor, to be honest with you 6 years is a pretty good innings for a fridge freezer. Expect to pay the earth for an engineer to come visit, best option is to buy a new one and be done with it, really not worth the hassle of getting something that old repaired.

agreed. i decided to buy a brand new one, a hotpoint one. i heard they are better then electrolux while bosh is the best but very pricey
