    Re: Time to book a ski holiday!!

    Good to see some other skiers on here! I did plan to buy my own skis about a year ago................but why do that when i can rent the new top of range? Plus I only go once a year provided i have enough money.

    I may have to do a late deal really as the places advertising for single people are too expensive. Found a good deal with Neilson 10-17 Jan 2009 =£246 but i need to find a second person.

    Re: Time to book a ski holiday!!

    Skiing alone is never a good idea, even the best fall, and even the most innocuous fall can lead to some nasty injuries. I've found 2 or 3 stranded skiers alone on the slopes over the years.. and I always make sure I've bought insurance as a result!

    Hexus ski trip anyone?

    Uncles that live in Ski Resorts FTW Am going on the 13th December - can't wait already!

    Flights = £50
    Transfer = £63
    Accommodation = Free - put to work chopping wood/digging ponds/destroying sheds for board.
    Boots = Investment piece in April sales
    Board & Bindings = Birthday pressie this year
    Lift Pass = £150 (but includes train up to snow)
    Weeks train for Uncles village to Interlaken

    Grindelwald and Wengen for under £300.... Bargain!

    I am becoming a Snowboarder after being a Skiier for about 12 years so I usually rent Skis for the last couple of days so I can attack the Lauberhorn with my Uncle.

    Skiing alone on piste isn't a problem provided you don't go out in silly conditions or 10 minutes before the lifts close. Skiing 1000m+ of vert without stopping for anyone is a blast

    Re: Time to book a ski holiday!!

    Spent the last hour trying to bribe a friend to go skiing, but he prefers lying on a sun bed on a beach..........ah well !!

    Since I'm having no luck finding flights and accommodation for around £240-£265, can anyone one suggest any good sites where they won't rip me off for travelling alone?

    Would like to go back to Val Thorens but will look at other options. I have looked at sites which say they cater for those on their own, but the prices are stupid.

    Anyone ever been to Poland? I know some people out there and have been told it's pretty good and also relatively cheap so am considering going.

    Re: Time to book a ski holiday!!

    I have heard mixed reviews about skiing in Poland. At the moment I would not consider it as I want to go back to Val Thorens.............. have had two excellent holidays there. Not sure how much cheaper Poland is but £246 for a week in France is a good deal. Plus Val Thorens is an established resort with so many good runs.

    Re: Time to book a ski holiday!!

    Does anyone do a lot of off-piste skiing? Over the last two years I have ventured off-piste, and love it!!!!! But i'm now thinking of getting a ski helmet just in case I go smack into a tree lol

    Anyone got any advice/tips?
