Hi,
Seems like I am currently in 'tech limbo' with lots of stuff just dying around me. Being away for a year will do that I guess...
My 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display has started to develop a pinkish hue at the edges of the screen forming a border of about 1-inch - very light. This indicates that the CCFL is on its way out due to age.
I have found a replacement lamp and lcdparts.net and am 'slowly' but surely downloading a huge Apple Service Manual torrent. Hopefully, it will contain the manual for the 23-inch Aluminium display.
Does anyone more experienced in display repairs have any advice to offer? I have worked with CCFLs before though, during my modding days mostly.
I can have my local Apple tech take the display apart - according to him Apple only allows them to replace 'all the internals' at one go - so getting to the CCFL will not be a problem. Armed with my trusty soldering iron, some heatshrink and the replacement lamp, I figure I will only have to remove the reflector and swap the lamps about? (...if only it is that easy!)
Thanks in advance
