    Fireworks

Despite it chucking down with rain tonight there are still fireworks going off. Guess it will be a few nights where I'll be kept awake by bangs and flashes of light.

Been a while since I had any fireworks. Anyone having their own this year or are you off to a display?

    Re: Fireworks

    I hate fireworks.

I have a dog. Dog doesn't like them. Dog goes crazy.

I run away and let other people deal with it, but if I'm in house I get multiple injuries. Is painful. Stupid fireworks.

    Re: Fireworks

Strange how they go on about kids carrying knives / guns etc and then they let 'Gunpowder' be bought by the general public!!! lol

I think Fireworks should be banned from being sold to the general public and then only let registered display companies use them in proper fireworks displays.

    Re: Fireworks

But what happens If I wanted lets say to have a few fireworks for my Birthday or some other personal event of my choice?

I really wouldn't want to then have to pay hundreds and hundreds of pounds hiring in a company to put on a display for me/nor should I have to, I am responsible enough to purchase and let off fireworks on my own, without injuring myself, my property and most importantly without jepordising anyone else's life or wellbeing.

Then it would be tough and you would have to look for some other form of celebrations.

    Re: Fireworks

That would be one more step to a corperate society, all the public rights being taken away one at a time. Soon alcohol will be on the firing list (in one sense, it already is). I can see where you're coming from, but I think guns and knives pose more of a threat in society than fireworks, and those things need to be addressed first.

    Like cake. Lots of cake.

I never really like personal fireworks, I prefer the big displays that are done professionaly to music like the 1812 overture. Just seem to have more impact. The smaller ones are ok, but just a bit 'meh'

The only fireworks i buy are big rockets. Spent £50 and am going round a mates house tonight to let them off.
I don't see the point in those tiny little fountains and stuff as they're rubbish

    Re: Fireworks

I like the tiny little rockets. Cheap, pointless, but a lot less dangerous and loud than anything expensive. Just a bit of fun sending £10 worth of crap into the air once a year.

    Re: Fireworks

well we've toned down our order since last year.... (last year took almost 2 hours to set them all off, 120 rockets, and some hudge amount of single igition stuff.... i opened an account with a wholesaler )

This year we've got about 50 rockets, and will be done within an hour.

Fireworks are pretty, but never saw the point in the ones that make loads of noise.

I'll have to remember to tape up the letterbox on wednesday :O

    Re: Fireworks

With the licensing of firework sales so much tougher now, there's less do it yourself and much more encouragement to go to displays. Anaywya, our council does seem terrific ones at the rate payers expense so why spend more for a few for the garden.
