Well, this is the one I'm looking at getting for £300 from samsung. I saw it in comet for around £400ish a few weeks ago, and it looked good enough. Not sure if QED are still doing free delivery on it though, I think they used to.

Loewe are the absolute don. £580 from Empire Direct is a real bargain. It's hard to describe how good they are, you just have to see one for yourself. The attention to detail is amazing. It's like a mini-B&O.

If that's a little bit expensive then I'd recommend Philips and Toshiba. Both do very good TVs for the money.

The Sony TVs look nice but the picture quality is very average and they're far too expensive for what they are.

have a 28" panasonic tv. 100hz (don't go for anything less imo) with digital telly included (can get it without it if you wish), very good picture, great sound...

great telly! got it for £500-ish but could probably knock any dealer down a bit more seeing as its last years model

Might want to look at the "graded" tv's here for a bargain.
    http://www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk

Recently bought a graded Panasonic TX28PS5 from them (of course I have the advantage that I could save the delivery cost by picking up).
It is perfect, comes with the exact same warranty incl the option to extend with Panasonic for another 3 or 4 years (can't remember just now) for £30.
The TX28DT4 is similar but has built in digital tv decoder instead of Dolby Digital surround.
Same TV's are £450 plus elsewhere.

Oh & imho you don't need 100Hz on a 28" (not likely to get it for £300 either ).

Our Panasonic 28" 100Hz/Flatscreen TV is fantastic. Cost about £500 or something.
Don't get something as cheap as possible, get something nice that will last you a while. Like Loewe or any other decent brand

I'd agree with Aaron.... Zak's Loewe is beautiful - fantastic picture and sound, and relatively simple menu's etc.
However, for a cheaper option I have been really pleased with my Philips (28" widescreen) with virtual surround which is fantastic. (My room is just the wrong shape for the real thing! ) Good picture, ace sound and good menu etc. (Not sure about the "pixel plus" on some Philips though.... seems a waste of time from what I've seen)
    Both were from Empire Direct

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.
