    A good use for CCTV!

It seems they've finally found a use for CCTV, and I'm glad as hell they did
This guy gets a pretty bad beating.

No idea what went on before hand, but that's well out of order. I find it hard to believe that those Police were idiot enough to do that in full view of all those people and CCTV cameras.

A short spell in prison might sort those bullying berks out.

I think its almost funny that he got £200 compensation.
He had to pay £150 in the first place!
Besides that, I was reading in the paper during the week that an Army officer who happened to be a lesbian had been forced out by sexual harrassment. Fair enough, except she got awarded ~£160,000, £30,000 of which was for 'hurt feelings'.

That's nothing compared to what the police do in America. That guy would have been shot and killed...

Anything from the mirror i take with a pinch of salt! As bad as it looks & sounds, id be curious to see if there was a different side to this story. Someone who has been in service for 19 years throws it all away in 1 evening?

me included, i was arrested a few year back for being drunk (work xmas party). my jacket and shoes were taken off me and i was put in a freezing cold cell in just a t-shirt and jeans. when i complained that i was really cold and asked for a blanket i got a kicking for my troubles. it was minus 3 degrees that night.

my best mate is a copper tho, so i kinda have mixed feelings. :

It says he got the £250 compensation he paid given back to him. He originally had to pay one officer £100 and another £150...so he didn't get a penny effectively, just loaned some cash to the police for a while with no interest.

And yeah, provided that is the full story I think a stint in prison for those officers would be just and fair.

Re: A good use for CCTV!

I know im being the devil's advocate here, but the video didnt seem as bad as i thought it would be. We cant hear what he was saying to the police to start off with, we cant hear what they say to him and once on the ground he bites one of them? IMO thats a fairly gd excuse to be a bit rough with him. Fair enough punching him 6 times on the back is excessive, but if he is fighting back and they are struggling to withstrain him, how many other options do they really have? He was in the army so is going to be very fit & i know how hard it is to restrain someone, especially if they are drunk and have lost all common sense. Police being heavy handed yes, but hardly ''police brutality''.

    Just my opinion though

Scraping someone's face against the concrete?

Ach it's fine, just the lads having a laugh eh?
Now if a civvie did that to a policeman, I reckon he'd be looking at 10+ years in the toughest prison they could find.

I really cant understand a system where we have a volunteer force who have the same power as paid officers.

just because it is worse elsewhere doesn't mean it can be shrugged off here, that's the wrong kind of attitude to have imo.
