Carpet, it's warmer in these cold times.

Although carpet is nicer as it's warmer, laminate is by far easier to clean and look after. Spills are easily cleaned up, you can see when it needs cleaning too. Carpets are dust magnets also.

    Re: Laminate or Carpet?

I hate laminate wood flooring. I used it in my dining room and kitchen, it's cold and if you damage it you can't sand it - unlike real wood. The sort of laminate you lay like a carpet is not so bad, but it's still too cold, especially for a bedroom.

If you do get new carpet try to find a local place that sells the offcuts. I managed to carpet my bedrooms with good quality carpet, underlay and fitting included for around £15/sq.m.

    Re: Laminate or Carpet?

I got rid of the laminate in our bedroom as its:
    a). Cold
    b). Hard on the feet.
    c). Gets VERY dusty

I have tiled floors in my kitchen and laminate in the bathroom though.

    Re: Laminate or Carpet?

    Question....

A lot of people have said carpets get dusty.... how the hell do you know?! You just walk on the thing, or do you get upto other business on your carpet?

Well anyway... my feet don't have dust detectors in them so I can't say I'd noticed the dust problem... the spilling of things I know all too well though... I have a big green patch from when I spilt some bizzare drink I 'skillfully' created while drunk; my phone rang when I was asleep and in my frantic battle to find it in my drunken way I smashed it off my desk and greenified my carpet... fail
