Thats an achievement in itself is it not?Carl, 24, and Lauren, 20, [we have agreed not to use their full names] have been together for nearly a year
Reading the story I feel quite sorry for them. They live in the kind of area that jobs will never really go to and without education/qualifications they will have a hard time getting a better job or being able to get more training etc through the government systems. Sad really. Then again I am a big old softie. Probably.
Not around too often!

I really like "the way i see it as other people come in, and then they have our jobs" maybe cause you dont want to do any of the jobs and instead you want to become an actor on eastenders?

WHAT? What on earth are they on about? They have a house, and have gas heating, internet and a PC.They say they had both hoped for a better life than their parents. They believe it is harder for young people now than in previous generations.

I think there are more opportunities now than ever, however many luxuries are now viewed as rights. I note she 'has to buy baccy' - I didn't realise smoking was mandatory/a non luxury product. I don't know, I don't want to get more right-wing and reactionary as I get older but I didn't fight in three world wars/when all this were fields, kids these days etc. etc.
I know quite a few working families who live on the same amount as they do. It does take the mick, claiming that things like tabacco are essential. I can understand that they're feeling left out of the system - and everyone should have a chance to re-educate themselves - but they're hardly living in abject poverty are they?
Think it says it all when the girl said she gets up and watches the tv.
There are some people out there making a genuine effort and not getting a job, but not those 2.
