Yeah, got a good load of it here, as well.

The view out the back window: http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1.JPG

    Just like Narnia http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/2.JPG

Looked good, so I thought I'd take the Sarge, me Doberman pup out for a look at the snow, as he's not seen it settled on the ground before.

He didn't look too happy about it, to be honest: http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/3.JPG

But he would chase his tennis ball under a bush... covered with 3 ton of snow, which he later knocked all over himself. http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/4.JPG

And wanted me to throw it again...: http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/5.JPG

But it got stuck in the branches of another bush, and the pup had learned his lesson, and thought better of trying to get it. http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/6.JPG

Not the best pics in the world, but I was freezing my blobs off, and couldn't be arsed messing with the settings.

It was cropped by the breeder, at a few days old. All Dobes, apart from a few breeders who prefer 'the natural look' are cropped in the same way.

In America, they also do the ears as well, so English Dobermans have floppy hound-like ears, and American Dobermans have smaller, sticking-up ears.

I suppose it was cosmetic reasons, to answer your question; I wasn't asked about it, its standard procedure for the breed. Ear cropping is now banned in the UK, and many other places.

Almost 100 breeds are tail docked at a few days old, and the Dobe is simply one of those breeds. The reason?

"The reason for docking Doberman is very simple; the Doberman used to be a police and service dog and by docking the tail we prevented the criminal from grabbing the dog by his tail during action."

I'm not that fussed either way, to be honest. My breeder was 100% reputable and well respected in the field. He's had many awards in various local and national shows for his pups. I didn't go to a puppy farm or anything.

It is a humane process, although, as it is now done for cosmetic reasons, it’s arguable whether it should still be practised.

But it is always done at a very young age, while the pups are still with the mother: http://www.fileonline.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pups.jpg

yeah its done when the puppies are days old isnt it? my dad used to do it like that, and i may be wrong but i can remember him using elastic before u ask, we didnt have dobermans, we used to breed Hungarian Visla's and they work game, so their tails had to go cos they didnt have much to them in terms of protection (like a labrador) used to get in a right mess caught in brambles, barbed wire fenceing...

Snowed here (Heathrow) last night just before I snuggled up in bed on my own...

Woke up and it had settled on the grass, just a little bit though. Roads and pavements seem to be fine. Rooftops are clear too so obviously not that much... thank god!
