Well it's not as if such powers would be misused to, say, remove an extremely old man from a Labour Party conference, is it? Oh wait..

She's right but it's also a case of shutting the stable door once the horse has bolted...

Or to arrest someone for walking on a cycle path. I mean, lock 'er up for good. Or better yet, the death penalty. I mean, walking on a cycle path - what a terrorist. A clear threat to society.

    Sam and Hex

You're not allowed to take photos of the police now either. Just in case they happen to be beating someo... i mean in order to stop terrorism.

Outside without your ID card? You're going to be black-bagged

Good on her for speaking out and speaking such good sense as well. Maybe she should stand to be an MP, I would vote for her on the strength of that article alone.

Re: Former M15 Chief fears police state.

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
