Is there a Union that covers your work? If so, might be worth joining to help your fight. It certainly sounds like it's time for a change of job. Even if it pays slightly less, you'll have a better chance of recovery/mitigating your symptoms with a fresh start. It's also worth noting that public sector jobs are also a lot more recession-proof than private companies.
+1 on the professional diagnosis/seeing a doctor front...
And stop playing WoW. Wonder what effect immersive computer games can have on someone who's feeling a little fragile mentally speaking...

WoW, no wonder your on meds.
I know a couple of people have agreed, but I have to disagree wholeheartedly. I worked for five years in the NHS and it was the least supportive place I’ve ever worked. I came out of it feeling betrayed and pretty depressed.
I’ve now worked in the private sector for 3 years (in The City no less) and have found that even though they work you a little harder they also support you for who you are too.
Personally, I'd love to be able to up and quit, but I've got no savings and little chance of getting through a job interview whilst I'm like this. I don't even have a proper diagnosis yet to see whether or not I qualify under the DDA, which would certainly help at interviews.
The most frustrating thing about this is the way everyone looks down on you, all they see is that I'm either behaving erratically (e.g. not focusing, stopping half way through a conversation and so on), or being irrationally grumpy or withdrawn or tearful. Not a single one has asked me if I'm ok, and just bitch about me behind my back.
Anyhow right now, best thing to do is to just try and survive, going off sick long term won't help me because without even a basic day to day routine I do end up spending all day on WoW or similiar games.
Start going for walks mate!
What a miserable bunch of sods. It's your workmates who hopefully get you through frustrations with the job, management, whatever, & personal stuff too if you're on that sort of footing. Poor reflection on them as colleagues & people. Keep your head down & come on here to let off steam.
Some people are very insensitive about mental illness, I remember a few years ago a friend of mine was at uni in his first year. He had some bad things happen to him and he developed depression, the people whom he was in halls with found out he had a problem and deliberately excluded him their arrangements to find a house in the second year on the grounds that they didn't want to worry about him topping himself... that was pretty much how they put it. Being excluded by your "friends" like that can only make you feel worse.

Consult a Doc,
1) Ditch WoW - http://www.wowdetox.com/ and that is "DELETE CHARACTER"
2) Speak to your work "friends" and boss about how you are feeling.
3) Speak to your family about how you are feeling.
4) Eat healthy.
5) Do 20 mins exercise everyday.
6) Treat yourself to something now and again (using the WoW sub)
7) Remember someone is always worse off than you....!
8) Keep posting on here.
How are you feeling today?
I agree with everyone else about seeing a doctor. Especially if you work with members of the public. Although, I wouldn't pass of your thoughts of paranoia towards you boss. Some can be real gits and sometimes will look for excuses.
As hard as it may be, Try not to keep thinking about it over and over in your head. Try and give yourself something else in your head to think about. Or plan to do. Like thinking about what you can do on your day off or the weekend.
With your boss and what has been said to you, try and think "What am I going to do about it" instead of getting angry thinking of what he said to you. Maybe working out changes you can make so the git has no excuse to have a go at you.
Being stuck in that routine is bad. It brings you down. Have you any holidays you take? Book yourself some time off ASAP. If you have a union speak to rep and ask advice. I know of people in some of my other jobs that have had time off for being sick with stress. You definetly need a break.
