    Dr Who Special

Watched it earlier on tonight and and the whole though it was fairly good but not to sure about Lady Christine.

One thing that niggled me though was a couple of times I felt that the sound was clearly added on latter on some of the speaking bits and i found i just wasn't that impressed on that part. Shame as it was in HD for the first time.
Am i just the only one that felt this.

Can't wait till the next one though and can't wait even more till new torchwood.

It had a flying bus in it which was cool, the rest was alright but nothing special. Looking forward to the new seasons though, always been something good for easy watching.

    Re: Dr Who Special

Lady Christine niggled at me the most, just the whole concept of her being a repeating thief, finally getting caught then being allowd to get away with it all. That and her catching a london bus as her get away vehicle.... (althought i know it would have been hard to do it any other way for the general storyline).

I thought Lee Evans was well cast, not a fan of his stand up but found him entertaining none the less.

Good episode overall, and its nice to see the Beeb's special effects dept being allowed out of the bag aswell.

Same. It seemed to go against Dr Who standing up for good.

    Re: Dr Who Special

It was better than some of the past "specials" and the special effects were held back enough so that what they did was effective, but not crap - they've been culprits of the "lets go in FX blaring!!!!!!" approach in the past. I was a bit shocked by the generally useless public that stars - the sort that either moan - suddenly becoming knowledgeable about physics

Few things that baffled me though:

    1. Why didn't they send the Tardis through the wormhole? Problem solved - and all they'd need to do was keep it in the metal container.

    2. Why didn't she take the crystal? She's a thief, all she does is complain that they're not using it and leaves it in the sand. Just surprised me!

    3. Why did he lead on that theft is bad blah, blah and then smash the moment of honour by saying it was more because he's lost all his other sidekicks in the past?

Generally not awful, but i won't watch it twice..

It lost out to Britain's Got Talent in the ratings though, bummer!

I thought it was alright but really hated the military elements - It really kills what doctor who is all about.

And the "follow my order or I will shoot you point blank in the head" was LOL.

Fail hit thanks instead of quote, but what I was going to say was the episode would of been greatly improved by hotpants

Ep was a bit boring tbh, with a couple of glaring holes in the plot. As pointed out above the crystal thing really irked my suspension of disbelief, only a little thing, but still.

Also tardis + bread van = 10 min solution no?

Still be watching the new season though.

    Re: Dr Who Special

I quite enjoyed it although because for various other reasons, I didn't get to see it all properly because I had to deal with the family interuptions of trying to explain what was going on etc. I did record it so will be giving it a second watch on my day off tomorrow.

I did think there were some very weak parts in there however, like when the Doctor set his companion free from the Police.

I was over my mates the other night and his wife was telling me that Doctor Who has been cancelled for next year and never to return again. I tried to point out that had she seen David Tennant on BBC news on Saturday morning he pointed out that the next series is pretty much shot and in the can and will be screened next year.

To which she replied "Well I heard it on Radio 1 on the Jo Wylie show, so it must be true"

It was rather pointless and futile trying to argue with her, so I quitened down and remembered it was usless trying to argue with a woman, they always win.

Nah, you batter them down with logic until they say "fine." and then you shut up and leave it because they know they've been beaten but if you say any more, is off.
