who lives in liverpool and banks with nationwide?

Does anyone bank with nationwide branch in liverpool? if your a cashier that works there and reads hexus stay away from me!

yesterday i went to withdraw money from their machine with my new debit card... got swallowed, cos apparently i entered the wrong number (well i didnt, i kept the receipt when i got the pin number and my mum rang me up with it.... the number didnt match my card )

so i go into the bank and speak to a cashier... they say ok the machines are emptied once daily, call back tm morning after half 9 and we will give it u back no problem. But do u know what they wanted to identify me when i called back? my passport which i didnt have or my paper part of my drivers license, i didnt have that either cos i keep all my important documentation at home.

i produced my card license, my student uni card, my old flexacount card which i still had in my purse, a HMV discount card cos it had my signature on the back! I offered to sign something in front of him, nothing was good enough he said as far as he was concerned 'i could have nicked the wallet i was holding!!!' the address on my drivers license was the address in their records, he took my postcode to determine who i was in the first place!!

i regained my posture and asked him for cash, 'no he says he need both parts of your license or your passport'.... i nearly fell over! i have never been so outraged in public in my life, there was a line of about 15 people cos i was holding a desk up for something like 15 mins all desks were covered and im stood there argueing like a bloody fishwife!

So my dad had to drive upto liverpool, cos i had no money to get home nor did my mates (we get paid tm) and then this morning i had to go back for it, and dealt with the same turp as yesterday, who i have to say looked like he was gonna cry when i stormed out the bank

They are the worse branch of that bank ive ever had to deal with, their slow, always busy, always got a till closed.... absolutely awful

Oh and they have ordered me a new pin number, so im still without money for a week, or i have to pay by debit... cba going in there again

bloody hell, that sounds like a nightmare!! - top marks for retaining your cool enough not to have battered anyone

jobsworth bank clerks are imho a complete outrage, particularly to students iirc, although what their reasoning for thinking 99% of people who are trying to further their education are villans is beyond me

are you gonna write to the branch manager & request an apology?

My dad is writing a letter for me, cos hes good at that kinda thing (used to be a MD for Pilkingtons, the big glass company?) so hes pretty ace at kicking ass it was a complete nightmare tho, and then this morning i could have quite easily strangled the cashier who dealt with me first, i went in spoke to her... she went and spoke to her supervisor 'oh no, machines have been emptied today we cant get in there again' so i interupted and explained and then she bit my bloody head off and then i had to 'take a seat...' arggggggggggh!

But my dad called into our branch at home as he was leaving and they were horrified at the least they would done was give me some cash based on my driver license card, 21 years ive banked with nationwide!

tbh I'm surprised they don't have a low limit you can withdraw with the ID you had.
    Just unlucky.
To be fair they're just following security procedures.

I bet you would've been too happy if £200 had gone missing from your account because somebody had stolen your purse and you'd have to foot the cost?

Fair play to the bank. The last thing I want is someone stealing my wallet and spending all my money.

I agree with Aaron here, sorry Lynni but you are out of line, only things like Passport should be able to be used as Photo ID to prove who you are to get your card back.

    However unfair it sounds.

hang on a minute... my driver license is photo ID as is my uni card and iam the spitting image in my uni card as iam now. As i stated in my first post the address on your card part of the drivers license, was the address in their records, he took my postcode to identify who i was in the first place!

When my father spoke to our branch at home, they said i had produced enough ID on the desk to prove who i was without having to back it up with other means... and because of the stolen wallet possibility, i offered to sign something in front of him that would have been enough for them.

What happens when someone doesnt drive and has never stepped out of the UK? there may not be many, but im sure there are people without both types of documentation

And im having to wait a week to use a ATM anyway. cos i insisted they ordered me a new pin number, having found out that i was actually entering the correct number!

i live in liverpool - but use halifax - they normally let you get cash out even if you've lost you're card which is nice, but sometimes you have to explain the whole story first

If you have a suspicion of something dodgy you have to be really cautious.

However they should've at least been have to provide you with you with a certain limit, asked you various security questiosn and the like........sounds like about of job worthery.

But tbh I think we're so used to not having security checks that we don't like it when we have to go through them. Remember it's your money they're protecting (as a mutual society).
People flout security all the time, you've even let someone else know you PIN number!

I presume that the photocard of the driving licence is easy to forge or nick, that's why they need the paper part.

oh right! well yeah, thats not flouting security... shes my bloody mother!! ive had my old card since i was 16 with the same number and was having problems remembering the new one before i threw the receipt away, so she suggested i kept it safe at home and if i had a problem, they could tell me what it was

They have enough money of their own, not like there gonna come to me is it?
