    @ Knoxxy

I think chap, what they mean when comparing illegal immigrants, is that an illegal immigrant hasa better chance of living here, than a Gurka who served for our country, so it's not typed indetrement, more in support of them.

However, you are of course correct to not want to compare immigration with a right to live somewhere you've signed your life and working career over too.

Re: Gurkha veterans & their rights.

Gurkha's are a proud and very loyal people who has served this country in numorous conflicts throughout the world over many years never once complaining or thinking well this ain't my country so ain't my fight they just got on with it and have saved countless lives of our troops while they sacrifice their own.
Its a disgrace how they are being treated we should be opening our arms are giving them the freedom of this country in gratitude.
personally i would prefer to part with my hard earned cash and income tax inputs knowing it is going to the gurkha's, than at present giving it to a bunch of no other word than spongers who some but not all of them have no interest in working for this country, just get the handouts and go.
gurkha's have 200% my vote to get what they want after all its not really all that much anyway.and they and their forefathers have certainly earned the right

Re: Gurkha veterans & their rights.

I do wonder what on Earth the govt were thinking.

Say what you want about Blair and Alistair Campbell but they always managed to keep a grip on popular opinion and would never have blown their own feet off with a shotgun like this. When a comparatively minor issue like this attracts near unanimous agreement from everyone regardless of their political persuasion, only a complete incompetent would fly in the face of that concensus. They should have been praying for an opportunity like this, to make everyone happy with a single inexpensive gesture and so distract us from all the bad news the govt has been embroiled in. In fact they should have announced the complete lifting of restrictions on St George's day. Is there anything more useless than an incompetent spin-doctor?

Or maybe it's higher level 'meta-spin' - at least the headlines agitating on behalf of the gurkhas have been distracting us from the videotaped manslaughter of Ian Tomlinson by a uniformed thug and the subsequent police lies, taken at face value and widely reported by the popular press.

Re: Gurkha veterans & their rights.

2 words that sum my feeling up about this

    1. Disgraceful
    2. Disloyal

I just cant get my head round it, so many people living in this country under false pretences and our fellow countrymen (as they deserve to be) have to be subject to these "conditions".

They have more right to live in this country than most of the politicans that make up the rules.

    Hang your heads in shame.

It is disgraceful, we let in people from all over the world who have done sod all for this country, yet the Gurkha's who put their lives on the line for us are turned away!

It still annoys the hell out of me that we the people of Great Britain had no say in this pillock taking over our country.

Re: Gurkha veterans & their rights.

It's pretty shocking the conditions to be met considering they fought for the country and to further the interests of all of us in old blighty.

As stated many times you have to smuggle yourself in to get a house and benefits while if you go the right way about it you get shafted. This country.
