Navy in London (this weekend) take your camera!!

Just back from Greenwich, where the Fleet Air Arm was conducting helicopter demonstrations and HMS Illustrious is parked. Have to say it was a great day, with lots of people around and Greenwich is a lovely place. They are flying again on Sunday and should be another great day out if you can get there, with plenty to do in the area. Rather than just having a few helicopters flying about they were dropping Marines on to boats, working with the RNLI and generally making a great demonstration. The museums around Greenwich (National Maritime, and the Observatory) are also nearby, free, and great for a picnic. Will put some photos up in a bit. Link below with some info, we stood around the Royal Naval College, seemed to be a good location.

Was in London on Thursday when they did a 40 aircraft flyby; unfortunately I was at the Imperial War Museum. Didn't think HMS Illustrious would be able to fit through the Thames Barrier; it looked a bit a of a tight squeeze.

I did wonder why i saw 40 odd navy hellacopters fly over my school in essex LOL

i love the new sub buster ones - i forget the name???
