Phonesocket but no power point.
Hey guys basically im moving into a new flat shortly, but i have recently noticed that the only phoneline in the place is nowhere near a plug socket which is most annoying as i need to plug the phones base unit and the router in,
is there any crazy / clever device that can make the phoneline wireless and allow me to plug the phone / router in elsewhere or am i going to have to ask the landlord permission to run a phoneline around the place and through the door?

just bluetack a phone extension cable to the skirting board, its a thing small wire!

Time for a very long extension cable I should think to run to the phone point.
I doubt very much if the landlord would be happy having it moved.

They invented those little white clips with pins in for a reason.
I'f a router is going in you may be beter running a power cable to the phone socket as i'm sure i've read somewhere that phone extension cables can decrease you BB speed.
Not if you use good quality cable - from a safety point of view it is better to run a phone extension. If it a modern type of phone point, and you can gain access to the back plate, run cat5 as an extension to another socket where you can plug in the router and phone base unit. Otherwise just get a standard telephone extension cable and as The Animus says, blue-tack it to the skirting board.

They look as though they need power from a plug socket, even if its a rented property there shouldnt be a problem nailing in a few phone line clips after all you are doing the next tennant a service
