Women have heightened immune responses due to their extensive amounts of 'sex hormones' and a variety of other factors. HOWEVER what the article failed to mention is that women suffer much more (almost 10 times more) from autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Graves Disease and Rheumatoid arthritis.

So yes women are generally stronger when it comes to fighting off infection, but I'd rather spend a couple of extra days in bed then suffer from systematic organ failure (lupus).
