cinemas powerless to stop recording in cinema's

I found the above when I was checking my emails.
so while in cinema's they have the big piracy is a crime and you can face up to 10 years in jail and a unlimited fine before the film starts the police don't actually care.....

Police have more important things to do, simple as that. Sod the youths in the cinemas, its the youths on street corners & in the council estates that need dealing with first!

Says that people filming the film in the cinema cost the industry millons i'd differ.
I know that if i was to pirate it i wouldn't want grainy footage (perhaps when tapes were common) but 1080p.
I reckon that most of the money the lose comes from identical copies of blu rays' and DVD's. Not stuff recorded in the cinema.

But surley these people put a lot of money in the cinema's pockets as they go often enough? I say let everyone film it so they could watch it at home

The spokesperson from the Met is right on this one.

I think cinema managers are just on a power trip. They want to be able to confiscate cameras or storage cards/tapes because everyone else is getting in on the anti-piracy bandwagon.

They are just little men ruling a tiny empire.

Blown out of proportion as always with pirating, it doesnt cost the industry "millions" it can take away potential SALES but thats all they are "potential". My friend pirates films when they come out of cinema as hes 16 and alot of new films are 18 like Crank 2(that was funny ) now after watching them he buys the dvd on release, how is that bad for the film industry? TBH i have sat down i watched crank 2 with him and quality is about the same as cinema as its just as grainy but no stupid audience noises along with the price of a bloody cinema ticket... £7! Id buy a dvd for that price.

i remember seeing blood diamond on a cam recorder and my o my it looked just as good as a normal dvd movie!

i later on bought the dvd when it came out. brilliant movie

I can understand why they think it's potentially millions......the quality is so poor that a lot of people will just call it "a rubbish film" and then could be potentially put off from watching anything else from that actor/director/franchise.

And lets face it, these "cams" and "telesyncs" are abysmal quality.

Or taken another way: loads of the guys in the office downlaod/swap copies of films. If it's any good they go to see it in the Cinema. If it isn't, they don't bother.

Both Wolverine and Star Trek have been watched weeks ago, and most of them have now been to the cinema to see them.

I'm surprised that there isn't a law against it. The truth is that nowadays many would prefer to buy the acual dvds since its alot cheaper and the quality is alot better that the pirated grainy videos.
