So you never watched it back in 1997 either?
EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TypdkNG0Yvo - t.A.T.u lip-synching in the semi-finals interval... they don't even seem to care that it's obvious. I guess they don't get up to much these days though since it's been a few years since they hit the charts with All The Things She Said.

Oh, I love Eurovision. I'm very very tired having just flown back to the country overnight and had about 2 hours sleep on the plane, but I shall record it on my V-Box in case rum-and-cokes and sheer joy at the wonderfulness of it all can't overcome 36 hours of tiredness.
As for the fact that we always come near last being blamed on political voting- what utter nonsense. The reason we don't win is because we don't enter songs that other Europeans like.
If you want to win Eurovision, you enter a Europop song. If you want to lose, you enter some anodyne Brit-Sh1t-Pop-Ballad. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.
Still, I'm sure we'll have to endure the usual guff-fest in the media and in the forums tomorrow and next week when the inevitable happens.
Hmmm.
I think Rave, you might be reading too much into it. It's not really about Europop, or working out what other Euro nations like, or political voting, although that does obviously go on.
It is, let's be honest, an indescribably crap, very embarrassing, dodgy group of strange acts from here and there about Europe, making fools of themselves in a competition that should have been put out of it's misery in the 70s.
Watch it by all means... but care about the result or try to see some sort of sense in it? Nah.
Win, lose, or draw, this means nothing to anyone outside Albania. Not real people anyway.
Also, the first 4 words of your post are the campest ever posted on HEXUS.
I'll be watching (or at least listening) but I'm afraid I think our song is the worst for years and years. It's the dam words I can't stand.
Did Mr Webber just run out of ideas and write "It's My Time" whenever he could not think of any more words?
Has anyone actually counted the number of times this is repeated during the song?
I've not watched Eurovision in years, and I've not watched many to tell appart the genres. Of the ones I've heard, my UK favourites are: Gina G's Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit (if I was to hazard a guess, it's Europop), and Katrina and the waves - Love Shine a Light (wouldn't have thought of it as Europop).
Well, I'm hoping that there'll be some songs that I'll genuinely love. And some of the bad ones in recent years have been proper comedy gold.
I do care about the result inasmuch as I'd like my favourite song to win. Which is why I'll vote for my favourite(s) tonight.
My wife tells me I'm a deeply camp man. Probably a lot of truth in it. To a large extent I'm a gay man's musical taste trapped in a straight man's body. Also, the first 4 words of your post are the campest ever posted on HEXUS.
Alright alright, I'll rephrase that. If you want to win you enter a good Europop song.
That Lordi song was possibly the campest thing I've ever seen on Eurovision. But at the end of the day it was sub-GWAR costumes mated to sub-Leppard 80s hair metal.
But a bit of metal wouldn't go amiss. The campness seems to have gone astray in recent years but There was a time....
Yeah, good tune, funky, just the sort of song that will always do well.
Well, it does have a nice tune, and very worthy lyrics. Sometimes that can go do down well, depends on the era I suppose.and Katrina and the waves - Love Shine a Light (wouldn't have thought of it as Europop).
Anyway I've taken over an hour to post this, and it's on in a minute. See you in about three hours if I haven't passed out.
Estonia wasn't bad..
Not that I was paying much attention to the song..
Edit: err Germany.. WTF? Not even Dita can save that one I'm afraid..

Turkey looked okay until she started "singing"...
Albania have apparently kidnapped one of the blue man group and turned him turquoise.. (She can't sing in tune either..)

Hahahahahhahahaha Romania, it's one thing lip-syncing, but having the actual singer on stage at the same time is just.. weird!

Well I have to say that I back tracked on what I said and am currently watching it, and voted for Finland.
Well ignoring the dodgy songs, I'd certainly give the woman from Azerbaijan douze points.
