Good job I respect (up to a point) my elders, or I might resemble that remark. But in some cases, age is as likely to bring dementia as wisdom. I'll let you know how I stand when I catch up with where you are now ..... age-wise.

Saracen I have to say I'm thoroughly disappointed with this reply...

I came into this thread, after seeing your name as the person who made the last post, looking for an essay to read whilst I drank my coffee. How upsetting

    Problem being that we're not talking £billions here - we're talking £Trillions
    20 million * £1,000,000 is £20,000,000,000,000, approx. 11 times the UK GDP for 2008

Saracen would be helping run the campaign and writing the speeches, but they would be DR's speeches, silly

Imagine a party election broadcast by Saracen, the election would be over before the broadcast was over

You're forgetting my disdain for politicians.

My election broadcast would probably be the shortest in history. The script would be something like

"Vote for me because ..... I'm not them. Or don't. Whatever. I'm off to the pub. Bye"

Approx 5% over 65 will develop Alzheimers and that rises to around 20% over the age of 80.

Future predictions are hard to make - might as well say that the treatments in development that are looking so encouraging will be ready by the time some of us would otherwise be suffering.

Possible. But the Cholinesterase inhibitors that are available at present do not suit all types of dementia.
Lets hope they come up with something sooner rather than later.
