One for the gunpla otakus among us ^^

Picked this baby up today. This would have to be the fifth PG kit I own, two of them scheduled to be put together within the course of this year...

This is the Astray Red Frame; with the same frame as the PG Strike. This box is all the bits for the 'Special' Astray ~ a second sword, second shield, second rifle and a full set of translucent armour. I got it for the second sword of course

Once completely, the Astray would look something like this...

I will post some details on the supplies I use when I get back home next week More photos by Bandai of the Astray on my blog. Seems like Hexus doesn't like when I link to my blog so I'll leave that part to your imagination lol...

I really need to get my PG Strike finished, been slacking for a couple of years, but with all your PG kits i'm tempted to get another one

Keep us up to date on the build progress please

Wow, how did you manage to stop in-between for so long? Is it that much of a challenge? Here I'm hoping to finish mine in under two weeks tops, including sanding down all parts and full painting too, with probably double top-coats

How far have you gotten then? I do not have the supplies to finish the MK Titans II PG kit just yet as I am more equipped for the 'white armour' Strike at the moment. I think I'll leave the GP01/FB for last as it is a rather difficult kit to come by these days.

They are not that difficult to build, for me they are so easy but a lot of fun. Reason for not being finished are quite far reaching and not for the forums, but WOW did take up most of my spare time. I'm no good at painting, my hands shake when trying to do stuff like that, so it will remain unpainted, but so far its about 75% built. Should really pull my finger out and get it finished.

No real need to be able to read Japanese. The instructions are excellent with items being labelled as the old Airfix models, ie, runners have letters, components have numbers. There are some bits that a knowledge of Japanese would help, but i've never encountered any issues with building them.

Here's an example of what they look like in this particular MG (Master Grade) kit,

There is only one supplier I know of in the UK and that is Tokyo Toys in London. However, they always seem to charge exorbitant prices and do not seem to stock any of the more serious PG kits. I was able to get some of the Mr. Top Coat cans from 'Hiro Boy', another UK based reseller (google 'em).

That's why most people resort to ordering off eBay as there are many reputed Gunpla sellers there but the items ship from HK and that once again usually means these are too expensive for folks in the west to get unless they are very serious.

I am not sure if the title is serious or not, but it says that it's a 30th Anniversary edition xD

if i can paint a 1:72 plane with just a paintbrush then you don't need an airbrush for something this size

The Perfect Grade Gundams are available from a couple of places, but due to their cost they don't hold a lot of stock.

    http://www.gundammad.co.uk/index.asp...roducts&idd=25
http://www.cometminiatures.co.uk/ You normally have to find out if they have stock, they used to get regular shipments from Japan, but i haven't used them for a few years now.
http://www.space-centre.co.uk/store/ They hold stock of quite a few models, but you will need to phone to see if they can get the PG's in stock.
Not in the UK. Direct from Japan.http://www.hlj.com/ Best place to get Gundam model kits from. Placed lots of orders over the last 10 years or so.

It is a 30th Anniversary edition model. But someone has gone to town on it, not unusual really, i've seen a number of female type mods over the years. Takes all sorts i suppose.

And for those Gundam freaks out there, you really need the Gundam 30th Anniv Illustrations book. A look back at 30 years of Gundams, may need to rob a bank to afford this, its £60 before postage.

These models are 1/60 scale, so general size is about 12" tall. With some of the large scale areas that would need painting, an airbrush will give a much better finish than a paintbrush.
