    What can i eat

I've just had 4 teeth out yesterday (1 one either side and top & bottom) and i'm struggling to eat. The last time i ate properly was 48hrs ago!!

I've tried soup but even eating that with a spoon was painful so i had to resort to a straw

I think it something to do with the stiches they put in which are now actually holding blood clumps in which aren't needed anymore. I'm guess i'm just going to have to wait till they dissolve then.

All i know is that i'm straving

Ow. Ice cream comes to mind (at least you'd get a numbing effect), or depending how you got on with the straw, smoothies? Even those sports or invalid type drinks with extra nutritious stuff if you are in danger of fading away.

+1 for smoothies, innocent are good Or possibly a protein shake from a health food store? Or yoghurt. Or you could try making smoothies yourself if you have a blender. I'd be careful with ice cream though - could be deadly with exposed gums!

    Re: What can i eat

Steer clear of the vindaloo and Chillis...

Seriously - milk shakes, milk shakes with ice cream (so they aren't too cold).

Scrambled eggs, stuff made from minced beef (cottage pie, spag bol (without any seasoning - and try it with rice instead of pasta.

Tomato soupd over pasta springled with chees and baked in the oven

Really, comfort/nusery food! Nothing too spicy, and that tastes OK when it is luke warm.

You can get hi calorie additives that you add to milk (scandishake) but only on prescription, so by the time you get them, you will probably be able to eat solids again.

if its bland and body temp you should find it easier to eat.

i made me ma a fish pie when i went to see her after she had a few teeth out, left it to cool down and she scoffed the lot

Bananas, eggs, jelly (I know it's not really food but anything is better than nothing) or if you are really struggling you could try Ensure drinks.

    Re: What can i eat

Assuming that part of the probliem is mastication then really your only option is blending meals and sucking up through a straw. I had a similar problem when I missread a crescent kick and ducked into a snap kick, couldn't open my mouth enough to eat for about 3days so had to use a straw. Still he broke one of his toes on my jaw so I came off best on that one

Another pointer would be avoiding anything that isn't well cooked or likely to cause infection problems by getting stuck in and around the area where you had your teeth out. So avoid raw root vegetables, unpateurised cheese and so forth.

Also rinse with Corsodol/salt water every day to reduce chance of infection. Note Corsodil leaves a bad taste in the mouth for ages.

    Re: What can i eat

We'll i've managed to get a small meal of spag bowl down me (took over two hours due to having to make it super small).

And i've now just washed it out with salt water and a big lump of something came out.

I'm probaly going to get some smoothies so at least i can have something to top me up during the the day.
All i've got to say is that i use to love meal time but now i dread it. Can't wait till it's fixed.
