    Musical Instruments

I don't know if many other Hexites will have seen, but someone has scattered some 30 pianos in london:
    http://www.streetpianos.com/london2009/
    (and a video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_230189.html)

But anyway, I was rather drunk last week, and it was intresting to see in our group who could play an intrestment. After becoming frankly appauled that one of my colleges couldn't recogonise Largo (i assumed it was his ear, rather than my playing on the honky tonk naturally). I decided to see if i could remeber something outside the scale of C, and shockingly I was frankly awful!

So i was thinking about mabye starting to play again, it can be theraputic when my obessive complusions don't make me play for 4 hours at a time.

But onto the point, i ended up googling on YouTube, its quite amazing to see some really impressive amatures, some frankly awful ones too, that are going to be preserved for ever. It made me think it will be quite amazing when the next great composer comes along to have seen their progression, and evolution possibly over decades.

So who can play an instrument(s) and who use to be able too?

    Re: Musical Instruments

I used to play the piano. Hated it. But I think that was due to the teacher and the fact that nothing she got me to play was in any way interesting. I didn't want to learn what she was teaching, so I never made the effort to get good at it.

I read about those pianos in the Guardian the other week. It was a fasinating little article.

I can play guitar to a reasonable level and love writing music when I can find the time.

I don't know anything about classical music but my gf is grade 8 violin and loves the stuff

    Re: Musical Instruments

    I play Guitar and Drums.

Playing guitar for about 3 years, no lessons or anything - very little knowledge of theory, but I enjoy what I play, and that is why I do it! Being an obsessive Metallica fan, I don't know much else - but I'm good enough to learn a heap of stuff if I had to - so it isn't a huge issue should I end up in a band - which I'd love to do.

Got a drum kit in February, again - no lessons, but getting there steadily - plus, its lots of fun too!

I'd like to play Piano/Keyboard, but I don't have one, so it's difficult atm! I need to get a bar stool though, the thought of Jamming away to some 'tallica while perched on a bar stool rocks!

Oh, also - it's very easy to play any instrument for 4 hours at a time, I've lost large parts of weekends (and today, 'cause I was on holiday) jamming away!

Guitar and Saxophone. I am considering getting a Ukulele, I can't decide whether they sound awesome or terrible.
