    I'm gonna cry shortly....

Just tried to ring work this morning from home and the landline was making a weird noise. I got into work and tried to ring home to hear a nice "beep-beep-beep" engaged type tone. Now seeing as my house IS empty when I'm working I was like " wtf ... is the theiving scally robbers ringing 0898 numbers again " so I nipped home dinner to find that my ADSL and phoneline is no longer working.

Once I got back from dinner I checked my email, and found this link sitting in my inbox

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/m...er/3577799.stm

It looks as if my phoneline is one of the affected and it deffo looks as if I have no net for a few days ( shudder )

    Anyone else affected ?

lol I'll just have to read a few books ( ones with huge pictures )
I'm not the only one affected as My brothers line is also cream crackered and here @ work we're on limited bandwidth as they are routing the data for more "needy" causes.

This is in no way connected to Manchester, but somebody was working on modifying out phone lines where I work.

I come in on Sunday (where 4 people work instead of the normal weekday 30) to be told by my colleagues that the phones are all down. Only, the one I sit on just happens to work, so I'm the only one capable of taking calls! Now I've just lost an hours sleep thanks the BST and am the only call taker!

Luckily, they found 4 phones in the whole place that worked, so that we could all get on, but our Scheduler couldn't get jobs out to engineers until 10ish, so we had a lot of customers who hadn't been rung by engineers (they usually ring between 8 & 9 AM, but without their jobs they couldn't.)

Anyway, sufficient today, it was a different day to what it normally is!

well, i've been away for about 5 days. no internet. and you know, for all those that can't live without it, get out more!! ok so there is a whole world in the form of the internet for us to explore but don't forget the non-virtual reality! so what if it goes down? - count your blessings and don't become dependant on the thing...

p.s. to those that can't get this because they're affected by the fire in the telephone exchange...well, its rather irrelivant now isn't it.

well... Day 3 in the wildmonkey household and all is quiet.

Lee is busy reading and watching DVD's with various friends and not even worrying about no phone or ADSL ( well... a little...)

Just spoke to BT and they have no ETA for a fix, it could be as late as the end of the week or even into next week.

lol - I am over my dsl being buggered but I do need access to update stuff and its cheaper to use MSN than it is a mobile phone to organise a night out

    bah

just been told that a small number of "lines" are still affected - mines one of them and that it will be Monday at the earliest for a reconnection. I've got to praise my ISP bulldog tho' as they have already passed a claim to BT to get at least a weeks ADSL refunded

until then... I can only stare @ the freshly painted walls.
