    Far Cry best FPS ever?

Ok i bought Far Cry today and have just finished the first 6 levels, this game is amazing! The graphics are the best ive seen, i was gobsmacked when i saw heat haze for the first time, it runs pretty well on my PC everything on high of very high detail. The AI is quality, you can be sat taking pot shots from the top of a hill down onto a base and watch the enemy run arround in dissaray, only to have a jammy git sneak up behind you and shoot you. The first level i was sneaking into the little camp only to come face to face with a pig, which immediatley became bacon, but not before it had squealed and allerted every bugger in the level to my where abouts. The physics are also awsome, rolling stuff down hills to take out people cowering below, shooting chains out on bridges and watching the chasing enemy plummet to the ground below as the bridge breaks beneath them, pushing rocks off of nills onto see-saws and watching the enemy fly through the air.
I havent played any MP yet but from what ive played so far of the single player it should be awsome.
So far ive been playing for about 5 hours (got nothing better to do) and ive enjoyed every second, just hope this game is long, better be for a 3.5 gig install!!!

(sorry for any bad spelling/grammar as im in a rush to get back to the game )

I hate you both. I only ordered it today after playing the demo yesterday So hopefully will be up and sneaking early next week. I havent played a single player fps in ages, but this one has me interested. Also looks like the devs are going to support mods and new maps.

The CryEngine looks very promissing and should spawn off some great mods!

the idea is its non linear so even if u do finish it quickly u can go through and do it again differently every time.

no where near the best fps ever, its definitly a great game but i cant see it winning game of the year, I completed it earlier today and heres what lets it down...

the AI is not what it was hyped up to be, the sneak bar is rubbish you can be seen from over 500 yards away in grass up to ur thighs at night.
story line - what story line? definitly one of the worst ive ever seen, absolutely no effort made when coming together with this "epic tale".

theres a few others but thats nit picking, the game is definitly gd as i said and is not short (but not long)

bunjiweb - the game is non-linear when it comes to paths but really there is only one way you can go about this game, so objective wise theres not much variability.

Well i've been very impressed Korky and i completly disagree about the AI, possibly you were going through it on Easy mode like a pussy!... i had it on hard and the AI is very good, but yes the only thing is being seen from too far off but oh well makes it even more tricky doesnt it and means you have to use the binoculars carefully.

    Graphics are superb throughout.
    The story IS fairly solid.
It gets quite scary and jumpy in places as it gets into the game (tree top labs etc).

I am going to play it right through and play the multiplayer properly before i give it a proper rating but it's honestly impressing me greatly so far.

Oh and Agent, i too can't wait to see what sort of mods etc. this engine spawns..

Judging from the demo's i will personally be steering clear of the difficulty ballance thing- one good kill and they come down on you..HARD

Apparently the first patch is going to add a quick save/load function to which is handy for the big jesse's amongst us (me )

Has anyone tried the hanglider yet?

Any idea how this'll play with a 9500 Pro? Guess my 1ghz Tbird is in need of upgrade though.... so how'll it run on a XP2500M/9500Pro? Looks like the Retek £35 deal came just at the right time
