    Re: Dentists

Never bothered with a hygienist, it's just overpriced tooth brushing. I try to floss regularly, brush twice a day when i can and use mouthwash (listerine of course ). Dentist is twice a year and until he says i should go and see one i'm not going to.

My teeth have been fine so far, one pseudo-filling (just some UV sealant on the top) and one that needs checking up on next time, but the x-rays seem ok.

I don't have an issue with the dentist, the old one gave me stickers and sweets when i was young so no problems there. I think the only time people hate dentists is when, as a kid, they've had painful work done and ever since have associated them with bad things.

    Re: Dentists

It is must to pay regular visit to your dentist not only when you feel some pain, for general check up also. It is not the matter of liking or disliking, it must be routine check activity of your life.

Going to the Hygienist every once in a while for a scale and polish is a good thing to do because they do not use just a brush, they use a vibrating probe that breaks of plaque, which after it has built up will not come off with just brushing alone. However 4 times a year is just over kill.

I am in 2 minds about the dentist, seeing as i am midway through 6 implants. I definitely don't like all the cutting, sewing and scraping, needling and drilling and yanking and jerking, but the sedation is wonderful

and his assistant, I got a bit of a crush on the antipodean lass

Violence and Lubrication is the solution to fixing everything, if it still doesn't work, you need more lubrication.

However I'm trying to produce an image of this in my head and its not making sense. If the dentist is cleaning yours gums then surely the breasts would be facing the neck region and not your forehead?

Only in hairdresser scenario would the breasts feasibly be on the forehead.

The dentist's chair goes quite low, and reclines nearly all the way back. She sits behind, rests her firm and lovelys on my head, and leans over my face. It's a very modern, and seemingly progressive dental surgery!

Certainly beats the 80-year old man with the 1920's equipment, that would always leave the mirror/spoon thing in your mouth while he was talking to the nurse.

If you brush your teeth regularly you shouldn't have that kind of plaque build up anyway, i've certainly not so far.

    Re: Dentists

    I am phobic.

So severely that Hex had to threaten to leave me (yes divorce) before I would consent to go for a checkup,.

When we went in to register I went to my happy place - to the point that when the receptionist asked me my name I pointed at Hex and said "I'm his wife" and went back to the place with Madam Butterfly....

Then for the actual checkup I vomited out of sheer terror twice before we went - then had to be sedated before they would work on me.

I can now talk (or type) about this without passing out, but I'm not there yet...
