Who actually likes visiting the dentist?
It's not that I've ever needed anything doing, I just hate it when they start digging away in your gums with their pick, or whatever it is.
I dont dislike it, but i certainly dont like it...
I find its a similar experience to going to the tattooist... theres gonna be some pain, but the end result will be worth it

I don't like going to dentists either, does anyone think they charge exorbitant prices? The same for doctors, even if I have something minor like a common cold, I still try to avoid the doctor.
I recently had a nightmare experience at the dentist; no, I was on the verge of passing out due to the shock and severe exhaustion.
Went to one of the private hospitals in Colombo, and the mistake is that the dentist on duty was a big 'ol QUACK. Decided on a 'simple' tooth extraction, and after about two hours of her stabbing at my gum with a harpoon like device, we said she needs to call her 'mentor' in. Thankfully, we know him personally as he is a maxillofacial surgeon for the Sri Lankan Army. As soon as he got to work I was instantly relieved. Not only was his bedside manner tremendously better but he was able to take care of all the damage the other quack had done; ended up with a suture and 'dry socket'.
The dry socket was nasty as it felt like I had a toothache for about a week+ until the gum healed over the exposed nerves. Had to keep the socket very clean, and it wasn't easy. Took about 3+ weeks for it to fully heal and if I ever have anything dental to take care of, I'd only go back to that particular surgeon.
Always get x-rays taken of your teeth, as they discovered, most of my teeth have curved roots that hook into the gums like pincers. Due to this reason it was/is very difficult to extract my molars.
I LOVE THE DENTIST!
(maybe because i am a dental student)
But i find that is quite a viscious circle in that:
person X does not keep good oral hygiene of their teeth
person X then in time gets large amounts of dental caries, thus needs an extraction (which of course isn't the most pleasant thing to get done)
person X now dislikes the dentist, because they associate them with doing unpleasant work.
Dentist, and general teeth lover.
Meh , not really...I just enjoy those liquid they put on your mouth that tastes rather sweet xD
I like the dentists too.
I didn't got for 15 years though for some reason, saved alot of cash though. I went this year and just needed 3 fillings but then I don't mind injections either.
I should do really, when I was a kid I had some dentist with one foot up on the chair ripping a tooth out of my face - very painful and very bloody. Didn't put me off though.
I like my dentist. She rests her boob on my forehead when she's scraping my gums.
Meh, no problems with dentists here either. I've bothered to find out roughly how teeth work, so I'm not scared when I need work on them. I even agreed to have my impacted wisdom tooth taken out by a student at a teaching hospital. It wasn't pleasant- she had to call in the supervisor before they pulled an inch of my gum away from the teeth, and took a drill to my jawbone to free the bugger up- but it came out in the end, and after the mother of all mouth ulcers the gum eventually stuck to my teeth again.
I need a dental appointment now as it happens, have an occasional dull ache from my one bottom molar that isn't yet filled- it's clearly gone the way of the rest. I just hope my dentist hasn't delisted me for not turning up for a checkup for the last three years.
I was @ the dentist 2day, it was allright, the worst thing is that the one I go to is about half an hour from where I live, but I got to drive there
I like my dentist a lot more now I switched to an NHS one, who is great helpful (no attitude), does not do unnecessary things, and cheap! I actually now go regularly. When I had a private one they said I should come for check ups 2 times a year and descaling 4 times a year, the thing that annoyed me most, was the attitude, like they were doing me a favour! I see them more like mechanics, I pay they money they fix it, the may advice me out to get better running but at the end of the day its my business. I gave up going to the private one pretty quickly, only started going cos I had a problem with my wisdom teeth... Fortunately my work at the time game me private medical.
