I am taking advantage of my free Win 7 Pro 64 thanks to the MSDN thing. It had all versions of windows (XP, Vista and 7) except the Ultimates and media centres, was quite happy with that as I was just about to buy the student version.

If you want to burn an ISO I followed the guide here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...udent-d-l.html
The code I used was:
Code:oscdimg -bH:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lWIN_EN_DVD H:\expandedSetup\ H:\win7.iso

The perks of studying computer science, saved my self a bit of cash. Makes me want to build a new rig.
A friend of mine who studies maths in brunnel university was able to obtain a free copy of Win7 ultimate 32 or 64 bit (his choice) was able obtain a copy for free via his uni for free, unfortunately it is an OEM otherwise i would have installed his version on mine.
Hmmm. Past experience with that kind of comment suggests that what comes next from some "helpful" individual is advice on where you can get a version that you can install.
What people do is their business, but before we go down a route that will get this thread closed, can I remind folks that as far as HEXUS is concerned, we don't want threads aiding or suggesting piracy.
For all I know, hkhan1989 may well be perfectly entitled to legitimately get a copy from MS in his own right, but we don't want people using HEXUS to advise where to get illicit copies or how to get them working. I'm sure anyone that wants to do that can do that can find what they need easily enough without discussing it here, so please, everyone, don't add anything that'll get this thread closed.
For the chap asking about .sch.uk - yes, it also works for both editions (Home/Pro). As long as you're a student or full time staff, you're covered.
Moo.
Cheers I might give that a go as I have a .sch.uk e-mail address.
Software4Students have it at about £60 for an upgrade version of Ultimate if that's any use to anyone. Don't know if that is a good deal or not.
I'm sorry if that implied or condoned any form of piracy, the main reason I had started this thread was to inform people of the student discount available if they were interested in purchasing Windows 7.
I myself, am going to wait till the end of the month so that I can do a clean install, which i recommend whenever updating operating systems. Tutorials about Creating bootable isos off the student downloads have been around since Vista i think, and as Wooglie as stated too.
