ipod touch 3rd gen jailbreaking??

hi, i just bought a 32gb ipod touch and very keen on this jailbreaking i have heard about.

what are the benefits of jailbreaking a device?

what are the risks of bricking my ipod touch in the process?

how easy it is to jailbreak my ipod touch?

how do you jailbreak a ipod touch?

is it easily reversable after jailbreaking it and how?

from all the above questions, does the same thing apply to a iphone 3gs 16gb?

I think you might be referring to "unlocking", but I do know that jailbreaking refers to both iPod and iPhone.

There are whole websites and forums dedicated to jailbreaking so I would start with a google. When I did it, I found ipodtouchfans.com quite useful.

It's easy to do and essentially makes it more customisable, from downloading different themes all the way up to downloading cracked apps (note: it's illegal). As for bricking the device, I don't consider it a realistic concern - it's quite rare to properly brick the device. It should all be identical for the corresponding iPhone.

I've jailbroken my second gen Ipod with no issues really.

Basically you just need to download certain software to your PC, have the ipod connected, and run it, it should do the rest...

However, wether or not it's all working smoothly with the latest software and new iPod, you will have to do some research (Or wait for someone a little more in the know).

I have heard that if you jailbreak your ipod then connect it to itunes while connected to the internet im pretty sure it gets barred, so be careful of that, thats why when i unlocked mine i reset it becuase there are no real useful features apart from apps which most of them you can use unless your connected to wi-fi

Don't worry, that isn't true. Otherwise, there would be a hell of a lot of people whinging about barred iPods.

If you jailbreak your ipod make sure you change the root password otherwise malware may get on it.

What's the situation on iPhones? I'd be interested in that - Read a lot lately about worms etc (though some of it's no doubt a bit exaggerated for FUD to try discourage people from unlocking)
