Uni Final Year Projects

Hi guys,

I'm currently in my penultimate year of my course at uni doing Automotive Engineering.
I was wondering what kind of time should I be thinking to sort out my final year project for next year? I know my uni doesn't send out stuff until the summer, but I'm ideally I'm looking to diong my FYP with a company, mainly because it'll give me more of an insentive to do it well!

I was on placement last year so I'll email them to ask if they have anything to offer.
But, generally, will companies take any notice if I write to them for a Final Year Project title, and when should I be emailing them?

Sweet, im doing Automotive Engineering as well! I changed my final year project in mid October & will a few hours a week im well ahead of most people, so i wouldn't worry about it too much. If you find ideas & ask your tutor about them it may help to research it over the summer, but all in all I haven't found the time too much of an issue (so far).

Yeah, I'm not so much worried about the time it takes to do it, rather sorting it out so if I choose to do it with a company then I can get all the admin stuff done.
We get the whole of our last semester to do our FYP, without being distracted by doing any other modules, so I don't actually have to be based anywhere near the university.

I guess I'll just have to email around companies to see if they have any titles available.
