Water and food are still more pressing issues.

Re: Global warming - is it happening?

I started recycling paper, finding seeking an appropriate way to dispose batteries and so on long before I started hearing about global warming. We were taught at school that we should look after our planet for future generations (even though we *were* part of that very future generations).

I am not sure if my contribution would amount to anything significant even if everyone started doing the same. But surely taking such insignificant effort would do a bit of good, if not for global warming, the good of the planet?

Water and food availability are going to get worse for many if the planet warms up, in the places where it's already a problem.

At the moment many countries just about scrape by (and many clearly don't - although this is as much to do with political instability and corruption as it is to do with an inability to grow food). Even small levels of global warming could tip many countries over the edge.
