I met this lady at parents eveing recently and she really is mad as a box of frogs, I thought she was great! Luke's first words as we were lining up were "This is going to be rubbish, i'm no good at science!" sat down expecting a - could try harder, needs to make more effort - and I got. "So lovely to meet you Mrs Powell! Luke is doing ever so well, top of the class" then she showed me a picture of Luke she had from year 7, and she'd drawn long hair on him - I already knew what she did, because Luke saw her watching him and scribbling in her book, so goes over to see what's she's doing and she's pencilled in his long hair over the short on his pic Then we talked about anything but science and Luke, from cars, to driving to shoes lol

If you think she's nuts.. My teacher in Year 11 came into the class, started meowing and then opened a locker at the back of the class then picked up some NOTHING-NESS and started stroking it. We didn't ever see that teacher again.

It must be something to do with the science subject on a whole as my Chemistry A level tutor was as mad as a box of frogs as well. She had her keys on those dayglow bungie cords and kept swinging them around and around. Once she swung them round and whacked her head really hard in front of me and just carried on as if nothing happened.

I nearly died from a combination of laughing and the noxious fumes coming from the spillage I'd done on the desk.

whilst the answers have been really good.. I'm a bit older fashioned than this.

So.... I'd start with the MEANING of the word.. ie how it was created (not the science.. the actual use of language)
