As snootyjim said, probably nicked it to sell or for breeding, found out it was speyed and didn't think of returning it to its probably loving owner, instead they decided to do this.

Truly horrible, animals may attack people occasionally but it is never down to an animal being evil, merely the instict to survive, this however is evil.

    Burn their dog?

Well, I get what you are saying. I am not a huge animal lover myself either and endangered species aside, I tend to think that anyone who wants to eat them ought to be free to do so. However, I can't comprehend the act of killing (in a very painful manner none the less) just for the sake of it.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where people would people commit this level of atrocity to their own kin, so it no longer surprises me that those kind of stories will appear now and then. Not that it lessens the crime.

    Re: What's wrong with people

What's wrong with people? It's the same as people that can take someone innocent as a hostage and cut their head off while they are screaming. How about the guys who attack innocent people daily to have fun?

But then you have people who are "trained" to torture people all over the world for Governments, it happens all the time.

Who knows how you can do this, there must be an explaination i.e. trained to do such things or being a total scumbag that needs locking up for life.

There are so many screwed up things in life it would be impossible to list them. Another example, the sacrification of children in the Amazon by tribes for the "Gods" by live burial, it's sickening.

But there, it's a cultural issue. Culture has developed in many strange ways - take the example of Aztec sacrificial towers, or the multiplicity of the denominations of the Christian faith - and every faith has it's own peculiarities. That is different to the senseless, and overly painful, death of a dog caused by boredom or lack of profit.

    Cultural differences can be rectified.

The mindset of a few humans who think that animal creulty is acceptable? Lets hope it can be rectified before a large amount of copycat 'teenage philosophical societies' (those that spend lots of time lingering on street corners, in deep thought) start to emerge with similar plans.

Tears to my eyes too as I read the post and type this. How anyone can do this to an animal and not feel guilty about it is nothing but a scum and a sick sick sick person who isn't wired up rigt in the head. if I ever catch some local scum doing this to an animal I don't think I could be responsible to my own actions and it would probably be me that ended up locked away in prison for dishing out harm to those repsonsible for hurting said animal.

    Re: What's wrong with people

@mediaboy: Personally, I put this down to a 'couple of screw loose in the head' than 'thinking' that animal cruelty is acceptable. Not to mention that where people will draw the line to what constitutes animal cruelty is socio-cultural too. On one extreme, killing animals to eat them is cruel according a subset of the population, and I think there is a valid point to that argument (yet most of us will never give it up, so in large, don't think too much about it). On the other extreme, something like this (warning - could upset) would probably not be served in this country on the basis that most people would find it unnecessarily cruel, yet in another country, the rules may be loosened -just enough- for people to order and laugh about it.

However, most culture (AFAIK) would agree that what happened here is inappropriate because it is picking an unnecessarily painful way to put down a dog, and it may be done for no other reason than entertainment/punishment. Which is why I think it's a case of screw loose in the head.

    A better summary than mine.

My point was that the example he provided was just an example of a different culture - which probably doesn't have much communication with the modern world and modern ethics - rather than an example of a few idiots and their actions.
