I keep thinking about getting a cat now I've got a new place but it doesn't really seem fair since I've only got a flat and I wouldn't be able to offer it a garden to run around in.

I wouldn't worry, they're rarely picky about who owns the garden they run around in

True, but the problem is that it's a first floor flat with no real possibility of cat-enabled access to the outdoors. I know people do keep cats as indoor pets but it never seems right to me...

Nah, it's not fair to keep them in. Personally, I'd invest in a long plastic slide.

I can understand why people like to keep their cats in, but in general its not very fair on the cat to keep it indoors all the time. They are free spirits, thats what makes them so alluring. The only problem is what they bring in after they've just been out.
