Well i didnt notice this thread so here goes -

Uni: Portsmouth (what you get for putting a ridiculously low 2nd choice down and missing a 4th A )
Course: Computer Science & Maths

Whats the course like: It's surprisingly good. Im probably more preferable to the maths side in terms of university performance however the computer science side isnt too shabby. The resources are good and the range of linux offered on some machines is excellent.

Whats the accommodation like: Im unfortunately in the worst accommodation, it's not what i would have liked but it is far cheaper than the ones in the city. Sadly i have to get a bus in from this student village which is 2.5m out. However the bus is free and runs every 20 mins until late and weekends too. I also walk it in about 30-40 and my friend here drives so well i make do.

My room itself is on par with what you'd expect, however i do have the luxury of a decent ensuite. I have managed to fit 2x 360's, 3x24" monitors and 2 desktops on and under the desk. It fits, just.
The internet here is amazing, im not entirely sure on the lines that are installed here other than that there are 2 dedicated lines and 2 backup lines incase of failure or the need to offset load. I average about 20MB/s from rapidshare premium, so it's damn good and thats at peak times.

Whats the free time like: I go out, quite a lot.. ok probably too much. Though if you can balance it with work then there is no problem, im averaging 90% across all units from semester1 so somethings working. There are plenty of places to eat, drink, gamble and generally get up to shinanigans. There is a big naval presence here so if thats your thing by all means you'll be good.

Uhm i did join 2 societies, kick boxing and gaming. Sadly i found the gaming society to be a bit soft-core, they told me they were good at starcraft 2 and well frankly they sucked balls. So i havent really been back. Kick boxing is great and the teaching there is brilliant.

Although it wasnt my first decision or a decision that i had any real intention of ever going too i am thoroughly enjoying my time here. The people are amazing and i whole heartedly encourage you to make the most of any uni your at, the breadth of personalities is astronomical, get out there and enjoy it.
